If Mesa buys Comair, will we be merged into one airline? Will seniority lists be merged? Will Comair pilots have to be trained on Mesa's other aircraft and f/as? If CHQ or Mesa buys Comair will we cease to be Comair and be Mesa or CHQ? or will Comair operate as it does now only being owned by another carrier?

they would follow alpa merger policy.

Senority integration.

But I would put all Comair employees on suicide watch if that merger ever happened.

tiffany,

i'm gonna help you out a little here before the rest of flightinfo jumps down your throat. mesa is not what you would call the most "respected" regional airline out there. in fact quite the opposite. hope this helps.

And ComAir is???

Except for one small detail.

RAH/CHQ is Teamsters, ALPA will do you no good in that situation.

Also keep in mind there is a difference between a merger (US Air & Am West) vs an all out buyout.

No merger/acquisition is pretty no matter what.

That would be fun to watch. All these guys that think their sh!t don't stink cuz "no plane flew for 81 days" and the strike was for the good of all regional pilots. Comair raises the bar while Mesa goes and lowers the bar so lets bash them instead of helping their fellow ALPA brothers.

Riiiiiiiiiight......

He is right, even with the bankruptcy contract, Comair is still better off than Mesa. No joke. Unfortunately the better regional jobs are slowly being replaced by companies with cheaper labor. I'm so glad I'm not dealing with that crap any more.

I agree. I was at Comair from 85 to 88 and I thought it was a class act. When I went to TWA quite a few of my friends stayed behind to make Comair a career. And for a long time it payed off. Super senior flying the very first RJ's. (If I was still there I'd be ~30 out of 1800?)

Comparing Comair to Mesa is apples to oranges. If I was still at Comair and Mesa bought us I'd be very worried.

None of that matters. What matters is what is in the respective airlines collective bargaining agreement and what integration process, if any, that agreement requires in the event of a merger or buyout.

As compared to mesa? yes. Most airlines are.

Mesa pilots have had a whole different history, corporate structure and management team to deal with than CMR. I wouldn't come down too hard on the Mesa pilots unless you've walked in their shoes for a while, and some CMR pilots just might get that opportunity in the near future.

ya' don't need to wear the stiletto shoes to know what a whore looks like....

Oh please. You can do better than that. The CMR pilot group does have a reputation for giving up concessions for jets, while the ASA pilots were struggling to get a new contract, but I wouldn't necessarily call them whores.

your comment was about MESA not Comair. The Comair group are a great bunch of stand up guy's and gal's...MAG on the other hand.....not so much.

This is coming from a 8000+ hour guy who is still at ASA. I take it as a grain of salt:rolleyes:

Here is what I think is up JO sleeve. If he should buy out Comair it would be for his own gain. Meaning he would buy it and put on the happy face to lead everyone to believe that he wants this buy out to suceed and be one big happy family. He would do this with another motive in mind not telling anyone he would do it knowing that the Comair pilots would jump ship bringing Comair down. JO would do this for 2 reasons...one who ever buys Comair, Delta will grant more flights to which means growth...like this Skywest and ASA. Second after Comair went under because the pilots rebelled would also open up more flying with Delta and the Mesa side would pick up the slack with lower operating cost and what ever planes Comair had. JO is the type to play with 300 million just because...look at GO!

Oh I agree - if Mesa buys Comair the first order of business will be the destruction of the Comair contract somehow. It might be as subtle as you imply, it might just be a smashing together of the certificates and telling ALPA "you're all one seniority list, you're all on the Mesa contract, e-mail us a copy of the seniority list when you figure it out" - and if anybody thinks we'll get released to strike because of that should think again.

On the other hand - where is Mesa going to get all the pilots it would need after the mass Comair exit (and they would, and who can blame them)?

It would be ugly - which is why if Delta corporate had the brain God gave the average gerbil they wouldn't sell Comair to Mesa come hell or high water - but I'm not so hopeful.......
