I don't know if he is still active, but when I was in the area, I use Honest Hal Conwell in Huntsville. Everything you would want in an AME...quick, easy, inexpensive, friendly, and helpful if you had a problem.

Like I said, he may not still be active. I haven't been to him in several years and he was scaling back even then. But here is his phone number anyway, just in case:

Doc Conwell's still in business, without a doubt the best AME on the planet. He's the kind of doctor who realizes that you're the best judge of your own fitness to fly, and knows every possible way to keep you in the cockpit.

The area code on the quoted number has changed though. It's 936-295-5222

If you don't want to drive all the way out to Huntsville, somebody mentioned Dr. Martin in Tomball. He's also very good. In fact, Doc Martin goes to Conwell for his medicals.
