A vote for the RIGHT TEAM, not a self-interest coalition of clowns sponsored by ASA Management:

Dear fellow pilots,

We want to take a moment and describe our goals as candidates for your elected representatives in ALPA’s LEC 112 election. Our first and most important goal is the completion of a new contract. We are optimistic that the current MEC will reach a tentative agreement before any of us would take office in March; however, if circumstances arise that prevent reaching an agreement by then, we are prepared to skillfully finish the task. We support the portions of the agreement that have already been tentatively agreed upon in their entirety by the ALPA negotiating committee. Some of those parts include:

Section 13 - Scheduling

This information has already been released through various channels by the CNC, but we want to give credit to some of the work they have accomplished, which includes:
  • Improvements to integration; Swapping in initial open time; Daily future open time bidding;Conflicting trips with vacation dropped w/ pilot optional back fill; New rescheduling/reassignment rules to address “airport standby”; Improvements to Extensions and Junior assignments; A totally new reserve system which includes:
    • 12 hour long call
    • 6 GDO’s Preferences for on call periods
    • A seniority based call out system
    • Pilot access to scheduling data
Thanks to their dedication and hard work, our MEC and CNC have achieved other improvements as well, such as increased sick bank and accrual and improved Filling of Vacancy language. Additionally, our new contract will contain a commuter clause that is near the best in the industry.

We won’t lay claim to work that has already been accomplished, but should the new contract still be in negotiations when we take office, we will focus on:
  • Pay rates that reflect our contribution to our company’s success and – through periodic cost-of-living adjustments – keep us competitive through the life of the agreement. The rates we seek will accomplish this and still allow the company to grow, remain competitive and enjoy continued profits;Retro pay;Scope language that protects the ASA pilots and includes a no furlough clause; Trip and duty rigs; Keeping our instructor pilots fairly compensated; Increased days off for all pilots;
  • Increased Company contributions to our 401(k) and a cap on out-of-pocket insurance premiums.
Our plan includes the use of all available ALPA resources, enabling us to focus on the core issues that you have demonstrated are important. In addition, we will work to obtain many of the benefits that SkyWest pilots already enjoy – benefits which have not been offered to us. With reasonable efforts and tactful negotiations these goals can be achieved.

Our main mission in filling these offices will be to ensure that every pilot who wants one can enjoy a solid, secure future at this airline. Every captain, every first officer and every instructor pilot has a stake in this contract and WE WILL LEAVE NO PILOT BEHIND! All of our pilots deserve a raise; we deserve a contract that allows for growth; and our instructors need to be adequately compensated for their diligent work. Our desire is to find a balance that allows the company to grow while adequately addressing our financial and quality of life needs.

A fair and equitable collective bargaining agreement with appreciable gains can not be delivered by any four-member coalition. But together, as an integrated union with all of us working collectively toward this goal, we will achieve exactly that.

Once a fair contract is obtained we must ensure that the pilot group is adequately informed and educated on the terms of the new agreement. It is imperative that management follows the agreement so we can enjoy its benefits as intended. We will represent your interests for the duration of the three-year term of our elected office. We will encourage management to work with us to provide a safe, friendly working environment.

Our mission will not end with ratification of a new contract. We will be on hand to assist any pilot who needs help, whether it is for individual representation for disciplinary reasons, issues with leaves of absence, FAA interactions, whatever the need might be.

As caretakers of the MEC, our intent will be to make sure that all of our ALPA committees are provided with the support they need to carry out their objectives. We will work to represent your interests at our union’s national level. We will also work with the ALPA organizing committee at SkyWest to help bring our union to them.

For more information about us individually, visit our web site:
www.nopilotleftbehind.com

On our web site you will find our bios, pictures, and contact information. We welcome your questions and comments. Your future and ours depend on all of us working together to achieve a promising career.

Thank you for your support,

Danny Utley, Nick Tomlin, Mike Schnorr, and Seth Heckard

here's another statement for you to consider:

I was running )deleted reference to this individual) BLANK program at the time this all happened, and I can confirm Frank's account here. I will also say that this was just the tip of the iceberg - there were numerous instances during the final stages of the negotiations (and even AFTER the contract had been TA'd and ratified by the membership) that current members of the "Fab 4/Jackson 5" attempted to circumvent the will of our pilot group as represented by our elected MEC members.

At the time, I argued that the entire story should have been made public to our members and that it should have accompanied the notice that MEC Chairman Randy Poole and MEC Vice-Chairman Lynn Jackson were being recalled. At the time, the MEC decided not to "air their laundry" in public and to concentrate on implementing our new contract instead. As it turned out - Ken Cooksey getting elected as ATL Captain's rep, and the internal turmoil he and "the friends of Lynn Jackson" caused within our MEC over the next year or so - our MEC had made a mistake.

The funny thing is, our management at the time probably saw Lynn's actions while she was MEC Vice-Chairman as a BIG star on her resume when they considered her for a Chief Pilot position. Lynn's explanation to me for immediately jumping into a management position - for becoming a Chief Pilot - was that that was the "only way [she could] continue to fight for the rights of the ASA pilot group."

While Lynn's work as a management pilot was somewhat positive (specifically, helping pilots resolve problems with scheduling, payroll, etc.), she continued to meddle in the internal politics of the union through her surrogate, Ken Cooksey. The results of his tenure as ATL Captain's rep were somewhat akin to that of hurricane Katrina on New Orleans. It took years for our MEC to repair the damage done to our relationships with other pilot groups, including Delta.

The short version is, a vote for Lynn Jackson and anyone associated with her is also a vote for "Mr. RJDC" John Breiling to become the next MEC Chairman. Lynn and John have a very well documented history of disregarding the will of the ASA pilot group and pursuing their own agenda in a very agressive fashion. They will promise you the world, but deliver a dagger between the shoulder blades if it suits their purpose. If Lynn wants to "fight for the rights of the ASA pilots" again, let her get a job with our management's negotiating committee. We'll all be a LOT more comfortable with her loyalties on the table for all to see. Being in bed with our management is the only way they can guarantee a contract in 90 days.

As (deleted references to this individual), I have worked closely with every MEC during the last 10 years. I can say with certainty that the current MEC is the best I have had the pleasure to work with, both in terms of their professional approach and their dedication to serving the will of this pilot group. I have already cast my vote for the only candidates that can continue the hard work they have been doing on our behalf - and at our direction.

Well, it seems most ASA pilots on this board are seeing things for what they are, and are voting against the fab 4. But are the guys on the line informed?

Just make sure the pilots you fly with know the history and have all the information. Make sure they aren't voting for change for "change sake"

I voted for these guys too. I'm aware of what LJ, JB and company bring to the table, and it's scary to think what will happen if they were to be voted in. LJ did some good things years ago for the pilot group, and also some selfish things as shown in the posts here, but that's in the past. The future is with this group of fine ALPA volunteers!

Guys please don't be led down the path of your "union looking out for your best inerests" Lynn will make a great Captains rep she has been at ASA for a long time and been on both sides of the fence. She lead the union to a great contract last time an then went into management to help out pilots. I can envision her doing that again this time. She will get a deal beacuse the 1.6% raise the Company is offering will allow us to post huge profits. The stock price will soar. She has plans to accept the company bonus program "performance plus" working together with your fellow employees on the ramp and at the gate we all can enjoy a prospering company. You should be able to easily make an extra $100 every three months if we achieve 95% on time.
See if Lynn can sign the deal then come into managment like she did the last time we won't have any problems dealing with the union, she will be able to appoint a new MEC chair to deal with her while in mgt. It will work great. The current MEC is never happy unless they get thier way. They don't realize that we can't always follow the contract to run the airline. Lynn has seen that from being in management she will sign a deal that we can follow, not one that has too many work rules where we have to train schedluers, that costs us money. Please save your company by voting for Lynn. I have to go Charlie and I are going to dinner to talk about how to fix the ramp. We will getter done!

Here's more on Lynn and her past! Careful who you vote for!

For those interested,

I’ve linked to some reference documents below, but the OCR doesn’t do a very good job on copies or faxed documents. Sorry. Anyway, the first document is from the February 6 and 7, 1998 special MEC meeting minutes. Page 1.http://home.comcast.net/~delano7/Exhibit_A_page1.doc, Page 2.http://home.comcast.net/~delano7/Exhibit_A_page2.doc . Here the MEC unanimously approves the contract tentative agreement.

This document is from the mediator as his proposal to bring both sides to a resolution, and notice he didn’t have a problem addressing 13 issues.http://home.comcast.net/~delano7/Exhibit_B.doc

This is the letter that was sent out from ALPA regarding the status of negotiations and referencing the fact that we had been “parked”. Notice about halfway down the reference to the pilot rejection (approx. 91% of the pilot group voted against it) of the TA that the MEC had unanimously endorsed.http://home.comcast.net/~delano7/Exhibit_D.doc

This memo is from Lynn outlining only 9 items and recommending dropping 4 of these.
Page 1.http://home.comcast.net/~delano7/Exhibit_C_page1.doc
Page 2.http://home.comcast.net/~delano7/Exhibit_C_page2.doc
Note: ASA management took our reciprocal jumpseat agreement soon after ALPA was voted in on the property. They wouldn’t even entertain discussion about it in the first contract negotiations, and it had become a strike issue for the pilot group. Initially the company held back the E-120 from the jumpseat proposal, and we had to change this as well.

This document is the Letter of Agreement on pay for training, and you’ll notice that it isn’t listed anywhere by the mediator, our MEC, or even in Lynn’s memo. This wasn’t an issue that we were pursuing in any way, shape, or form.
Page 1.http://home.comcast.net/~delano7/Exhibit_E_page1.doc
Page 2.http://home.comcast.net/~delano7/Exhibit_E_page2.doc

These two pages are representative of the rates of pay that we were after, and you’ll notice that E-120 and CRJ Captains topped out at year ten, while First Officers topped out at year five. Look how important it is to increase longevity as well as providing for COLA adjustments. Imagine where you’d be today if the previous two contract longevity steps were in place today. Half the pilot group would be topped out! We must have the wherewithal to stick to our guns, and hold the line. Really, do think we’re asking too much?

Crew lounge

Lynn is busy in the crew lounge detailing how the plan will be implemented to get this thing done in 90 days. Personally I think we can get it done much faster because all we have to do is tidy up the companies last proposal a little and its done. It may take a few months to educate the pilots as to why they need to take our offer, but you guys are professionals and good union leadership will be able to help you see the big picture.

hey Joe Merchant and Voice of Reason, you two care to comment on the posts here on this thread? Huh Joey? Did that refund money for PFT that you and Lynn negoitiated help pay for your sailboat, or was it used for the down payment on the condo?

VOTED IN FAVOR!

Voted in favor.

We need to educate the <5 years seniority crowd. Talk to your FOs.

As a junior FO I can say that what the Union has done to this point has been AWESOME! The ASA pilots on this board have also been spot on with there predictions... I don't know how anyone would vote against someone endorssed on this board.

I certainly wouldn't base my vote on the recommendations from this board. Talk to the nominees. Ask them tough questions. Decide for yourself.

I don't care who you are, that's funny.

C'mon Joey Merchant. I know you read this thread. Why won't you or Lynn (aka Voice of Reason) comment here on what this thread says about the two of you? Maybe because it's the truth?

VOTED IN FAVOR! And for No Pilot Left Behind group!

Count my vote!

Here's another vote for the folks that will stand up for the pilot group, and that isn't the Jackson 5! Why in the world would a pilot group wait 4+ years for a decent contract to turn negotiations over to a management sponsored group of four so they can get bent over in the 11th hour?

I love the fact that the Jackson 5 tries to take credit for everything that the current MEC has already negotiated, while the Tomblin group gives credit where credit is due.

I voted for as well..... I hope they do something !!! 18% is CRAZY !!

However B.Lee is a great person and would do a da@n good job too !!!

I ask again, John and Lynn! What are you afraid of?

You want to see something laughable? Go check out the ALPA board to see about some of the questions posed to one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse?

Oh my!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Scott,

Is it true that you, B.L., and Brian Wilson support the Jackson 5, formerly known as the performing artists, the Fab4?

Scott, is this a Social Club organization supported by your MGMT team to be the next MEC?

Scott, have you ever been seen on Joey's and L.J.'s "Love Boat" in South Florida?

Scott, have you ever been at Joey's Mountain Retreat, affectionately called CAMP PARROTHEAD?

Scott, have you ever been known to HOT TUB with the Fab4 and Joey, or without Joey?

Finally, Scott, do Fat Bottom Girls make your world go around?

Scott,

I'm sure anyone in managment would support Lynn. She and her team have the insight to see managements point of view on nearly every open item in the contract.

Scott, is this a Social Club organization supported by your MGMT team to be the next MEC?
Hardly a social club more like a business relationship.

Scott, have you ever been seen on Joey's and L.J.'s "Love Boat" in South Florida?
Being pastey pale white is not condusive to be on any boat!

Scott, have you ever been at Joey's Mountain Retreat, affectionately called CAMP PARROTHEAD?
No but sounds cool, I'm sure when Lynn gets elected plenty of business could get done there.

Scott, have you ever been known to HOT TUB with the Fab4 and Joey, or without Joey?
Hot tub, refer to the answer 2 qeustions above!

Finally, Scott, do Fat Bottom Girls make your world go around?
All girls should be treated equal.
