We did elect a Republican. What were you expecting, a conservative?

Actually, as we all know, spending belongs to Congress and the conservatives are not in the majority in that body. The Republicans hold a small majority, but even if the Republicans were 100% conservative, they would still have to compromise in order to do business.

The Republicans that I despise are in the Senate. They have allowed the Democratics to control the judicial appointment process with an incorrect filibuster. The constitution doesn't dictate that anything more than a simple majority is necessary for the "advice and consent" on Federal Judges. Yet the Democratics demand that a 60% "super majority" be attained, and the Republican leadership allows them to win. Gutless Barstards.

Vlad,
If by reading some of your posts is any indication of intelligent thinking, you're the idiot.

How about removing Vlad's name and inserting our "Commander-in-Chief's:"

"There's an old saying in Tennessee -- I know it's in Texas, probably Tennesse -- that says, fool me once, shame on -- shame on you. Fool me -- you can't get fooled again."
Nashville, Sept 2002

"I'm also not very analytical. You know I don't spend a lot of time thinking about myself, about why I do things."
Air Force One, June 2003

"Now, there are some who would like to rewrite history -- revisionist historians is what I like to call them."
New Jersey, June 2003

"We don't believe in planners and deciders making the decisions on behalf of Americans."
Pennsylvania, Sept 2000

"Whatever it took to help Taiwan defend theirself."
Morning America, April 2001

And my personal favorite: "We need an energy bill that encourages consumption."
New Jersey, Sept 2002

Much of the increase was driven by war in Afghanistan and Iraq, as well as homeland security spending after the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. But spending has risen on domestic programs such as transportation and agriculture, as well. Total federal spending -- including non-discretionary entitlement programs such as Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid -- reached $2.16 trillion in 2003, a 7.3 percent boost, according to the Congressional Budget Office

This was taken from your posted link, deficit spending always occurs during a time of war.

Shame on you for calling Bill Clinton an idiot! Next you'll be saying the former guv of Texas is a drunk. Then shame on you again for calling Anne Richards names!

but still entitled to my own opinion, eh?

Of course! Even communists get their freedom of speech. Try speaking out like this in the good ole' USSR or PRC, not gonna happen. Even in "enligtened" nations like Germany, France, and other european democratic socialist republics, freedom of speech is being taken away with the accusation of "hate speech".

So Vlad, be glad that your commie buddies were not able to gain any traction and wrestle the freedoms away from the people of the USA. Otherwise you might have ended up dieing of a nine-millimeter brain hemmorage and never heard from again. Communism/socailism does not respond to criticism very well.

It's funny. All the ones that do the most complaining of the US, are the ones that would be protesting the most if they had to actually live in any of the countries that they say are so more advanced and superior to the US. IF THE USA IS SO HORRIFIC AND UNJUST, GET YOUR ASS TO FRANCE OR CANADA OR AT LEAST OUT OF THE US. Go live in a country that agrees with your ideaology. Enjoy the socialized medicine and health care. Just hope that you are of a noble decent so you do not have to die a serf style death.

To all you liberals who bash the US....Be glad you live here in this great country so you can carry on with your bad mouthing, for if you lived anywhere else, you would surely hang.

uhm,, wake-up call sf3boy,

This country was founded by "complainers". Remember the land owning angry men that started a revolution because they didn't want to pay their taxes to the king? "Complaining" is a an intergal part of our system of checks and balances that contribute to keeping this country relatively free. Sure, compared to many other countries, we have many privileges here but, that doesn't mean we should rest on our fat laurels. Your "if you don't like it leave" attitude is very unpatriotic. Why don't you try to think of it as "if you don't like it, work to change it"? War is, by far, not the only way that freedom is maintained.

Actually the country was founded by people who believed in freedom and to have representation in the ruling government if they were being taxed, not by people who didn't want to pay taxes. That is elementary grade history.

My previous point was that those citizens that bad mouth their country are generally liberals. As a conservative, there are numerous items that this administration and congress and especially the courts have done that I don't agree with. If I think that they have gone in a direction that I don't approve of, I will cast my votes during the next elections accordingly.

Liberals, typically want a government style for the US to resemble France or China...that is where the free people have no choice or say in how the government governs. In my mind, liberals want to give the all the freedoms that our founding fathers fought so passionately for back to a government. They only support measures that allow the government to decide how funds are allocated, who gets to have a doctor, etc... If you don't believe me, just wait until after the first term of Clinton's Presidency is through.

Sf3boy,
So you are saying that Democrats want to abolish democracy, and install a Chinese style government?

Read a newspaper, Time, Newsweek at least once in a while.

I t must be tough to live in dualistic, black and white world and not having a clue!

sf3boy,

You can sugarcoat history however you please but it doesn't change the fundamental motivations. What is truly elementary is that the fact founding fathers weren't infallible. Guess what..... they knew they weren't. One only has to read the constitution.

You will cast your votes......great! That's more than many will do. However, limiting your participation to "casting your vote" does not (by a long shot) get even close to the efficacy of citizenship......milquetoast at best. There is a good reason for free speech. This is also elementary.

"who gets to have a doctor" That sounds more like what is wrong with HMO's (hint hint , HMO's give way more to Republicans)

My previous point was that those citizens that bad mouth their country are generally liberals.

Again, free speech. It's just one of those "little" things that keeps this country free. I for one am thankful for this.
