I do love it when someone in HR is asked to write their aviation employment ads.

Some things that struck me as hilarious:

1. Required Work Days: Monday - Friday
2. Required Work Hours: 8:30A - 5:00P

And lastly, the department name: Specimen Air :eek: :o :D

In all seriousness, this is probably a good job and good luck to those that apply.

and the lack of forethought - "It is preferred that the applicant have experience in the aircraft that we currently fly." which is???

probably would be answered by "Oh, it's a big pretty white plane with a red stripes, curtains at the windows, wheels, and it just looks like a big Tylenol."
 
They really need to get themselves a call sign, with a name like "Specimen Air" you just can't go wrong!:D If you get the job make sure you get a soda out of the RIGHT cooler. It'd be a shame to drink some of that "special" apple juice.
 
I was flying out of LZU where they have a plane
and heard the call sign "piss cup 247"...

wonder if it was them?

Yea, they operate a bunch of TBM's. I think it's at least 8 or 10. I believe their callsign is Quest. I was unfortunate enough to be in MOB last year when their TBM went down short of the runway. He had some engine trouble, and shut it down prematurely...didn't make the runway. It was pretty spooky listening to it all go down on the radio.
 
From what I hear it's a decent job. I believe they fly C-310 and as mentioned before TBM's.

$50-60k to start as PIC. I didn't even know they had SIC positions. I think they are based in Atlanta.
 
The ad said Reading, PA.

On a side note...anyone see the Home Depot ad written by the HR lawyers? I don't have it in front of me but I believe the basically took a floor stocker position, tossed in a few aviation terms and published it.

Things like "must be able to lift heavy items over you head during typical shifts," Ok, this could be a suitcase I guess.

Must abide by flight department aviation rules sections 61.2.04.66.520.525 and 67.540.53540..540.240....

Really folks, who gives a ... I'm sure the new hire will receive the training necessary as to what sections to abide by in the aviation manual (thought to self....aren't all sections binding???).

Once again, probably a great job (I've heard stories but will keep to self for now).

I forget where, but there was an ad for a pilot a while back that said. ... Must be willing to travel. Wow, there is a thought.

It is an AWESOME job.

I was lucky enough to be selected to work at Quest. I was recommended by their former head of training who was my first flight instructor. As you might imagine, recommendations are everything at their operation. I'm not kidding when I say that the people here treat one another like family - minus the drunk uncle everyone had to put up with at Thanksgiving and Christmas!

I've only been here about a month, but they have been absolutely outstanding. I had some very difficult personal circumstances that they worked with me on in my first couple of weeks here - I don't think any other company (or very, very few) would have treated the situation like Quest did. Matter of fact, any other company would probably have fired me. The benefits are amazing, the pay is very fair, the equipment is well maintained. As Znobrdr put it, no one leaves, and that says a lot.

To put it all into perspective, I am also currently a pilot in the PA Guard, and my civvy job had been flying Dash 8s at Allegheny Airlines (was hired in '98). Quest has been fantastic working with my Guard schedule, and are very supportive of my service to the country. I went back to Allegheny in July after a military leave of absence, and I attempted to maintain a positive attitude even with the current corporate environment there. That didn't last long. I wound up getting a DHC-8 type rating during my short return to ALG, but when I saw I would be downgraded to F/O three days after my FAA line check I knew the writing was on the wall.

It's too bad not all corporate jobs are like this one.
 
The HR add disease is industry wide...

I believe that job description comes from the Department of Labor's Dictionary of Occupations: U. S. Department of Labor

It also looks like a Department of Transportation Code: 196.263-014.

$51,430 a year flying a SKYMASTER!?!?!? Holy CRAP!!! :eek: :eek: :eek: Thats going to screw up ProPilot's survey!!! :o
 
Anybody know the contact info for Labquest? Also, I knew an Eric that used to fly at airnet and now flies for LQ in florida, if you're out there send me a PM.
