No, what I'm talking about is donating to flightinfo.com.

If you donate today our tommorrow (by the 31st) you can write it off on this year's taxes (if U itemize-if U don't, you're probably missing out on a lot of deductions if you're a professional pilot or trying to be). I donated $50, and this year I'm in the 25% tax bracket (oh, I'd like to comment that Bush's tax breaks were a BIG help! The rich guys got their taxes cut by millions, and my middle class family's tax bill went UP by about $5K!), so it'll actually only cost me $37.50 to donate the $50.

I got my present job thanks to flightinfo, and I know a TON about various companies and the job market thanks to flightinfo.

I first tried to get a job in the early '90s, and with no Internet it was a pain. I spent a bunch of money with AirInc, which got me nothing. Too bad there wasn't flightinfo.com and sites like them back then, or I would'nt been out of flying for 10 years.

Please DONATE! If you can only afford $5, that's fine, donate $5. If every person that read stuff on flightinfo donated $5, they'd have enough $ for years, I suspect.

I don't think you can write off the donation... I realize FlightInfo is "not-for-profit" BUT there are certain areas it must qualify for to make donations tax deductible...

I, too, tried to advance my career during the late '80s-early '90s. I donated plenty of money to Kit and got zip out of it, although Career Pilot was amusing reading. I've said many times that if flightinfo.com had existed back then I could have received far better advice than what FAPA provided and, in turn, made far better career decisions than those I made - and perhaps I could have achieved my goals.

This board is a valuable resource, in terms of the information available, but also in terms of the comaraderie. Give a few bucks, please. (Sorry to sound like an NPR beggar.)

I am very curious as to how your tax bill went up by 5K? Perhaps you made more money this year than last? Do not blame GW for your local and state tax bills going up ( I will admit that there are a lot of flaws in his program, mainly runaway domestic spending ) but the overall federal tax rates have gone down. Quite simply, if you made more money you paid more in taxes.

Oh man!!! I was fine and just thought it was a neat avatar...until you mentioned that movie!

As this is my first year with a salary, I was able to donate $10. I know it's not much, and I would love to donate more so I've decided that as my income increases, so will my donations.
This is a great site and I would be willing to pay a membership fee. As it is, I like that it has not gone to that and is still a donations only message board. Keep up the great work!

Hi!

It doesn't matter if flightinfo is a charity or non-profit, or whatever.

U can deduct it as an "Unreimbursed Business Expense"-you are spending the money to further your flying career (if you're a career pilot), just like U can deduct expenses to attend a career fair, mailing and printing of resumes/applications, phone calls to airlines, flying publications, etc. etc.

I know I need to change my avatar-it's getting old.

In this one she IS killing someone, so maybe tough women have U running scared! haha!
