There's an article in Air Classics this month about the Dennis ("Who's the greatest pilot you ever saw?") Quaid remake of The Flight of the Phoenix. It seems Hawkins and Powers Aviation restored a C-119 Flying Boxcar to flying status and flew it all the way to Namibia just to shoot this movie. (The Phoenix is under construction in California...being pieced together from the pieces of another C-119.)

It looks like Fox is putting some serious effort into making this film somewhat realistic. I'm impressed!

There was another thread on this last week., but thanks for bringin it back so i can rant again!

Blah, realism my a$$. I bet there will be 2,000 explosions, matrix like animations, and somehow they'll squeeze a Nelly soundtrack in there. (Yeah i wrote the same thing last week too).

Movies nowadays are made for audiences with the depth and attention span of a 2-year old, it's all visuals and no meaning.

How can you improve a classic like Phoenix? It's almost like "improving" Beethoven's 5 with a hip hop beat (oh wait, they did that already).

I have that article. I found it really interesting. I wonder if she'll be flown back to wyoming after the movie is done or if it'll head to someplace like the smithsonian.
