Hmmm, here's my definition of a really BAD trip:

You make more in PER DIEM than you do in flight pay.

This trip comes pretty close to that criteria.

At Shuttle America 1st year pay according to Airline Pilot Central is $23/hr

Lets assume the trip will unfold exactly as the schedule describes it

9.27 hrs x $23/hr = $213.21 in flight pay

Time away from base = 64.45hrs x $1.60/hr per diem = $103.12

Back in my regional days, I tried to average 5hrs flight pay/day.

wow what a joke!! I would probably be deadheading myself in the same day instead of wasting the first day deadheading just so get to SLC then sit in the hotel all day the next day.

Unfortunately, at some airlines if you drop your DHs, it comes right off your min guarantee. If you had very many trips like the example given, you'd need every bit of your min guarantee to have any kind of paycheck.
 
Actually, in the defense of the first poster this is a perfect trip for a first year guy on reserve. You're going to get guarantee anyway, so you might as well rack up per diem and fly as little as possible.

You will work less and get paid more...plus, you get to go home when your trip is over, instead of sitting at the airport waiting for a flight to go home. Not to mention the headaches of trying to commute to work...that'll be all gone. Your QOL will improve by 5X.

it's a totally different job than when you have to commute. it's your standard 3X-6X on the "mo betta-ness" scale......:eek:

You are such a tool. Blame an entire pilot group based on one idiot's comment on Flightinfo....:rolleyes:

And yes...it is our intention to "invade" CVG and take away "your" flying. We meet every month to plan strategy.....idiot.
