This doesn't surprise me, but I got an email from my cousin's-sister's-aunt's-friend, who was informed by a pilot who knows a ramp agent who knows a friend who knows a friend who works as a trash man that knows another trash man that picks up the highly classified trash barrel at SWA DAL HQ. He said that he found proof that SWA owns some sort of 3rd party training facility with the initials HPA. He also read something that the FAA will count all training done at HPA towards new hire training SWA. Basically, it sounds like once you get your type at HPA, a pilot can just start IOE immediately after being hired.

I guess in addition to fuel hedges, SWA is looking to hedge training costs too.

What a great idea!!!!

Well.....THANK GOD I CHOSE HP FOR MY TYPE!!!! WHOOO HOOO!!!! ;)

Goin April 4th baby! Cheers!

On a more serious note, While that would be nice, Somehow I doubt it....I have been told though that the ENTIRE TIME you are at HPA, Treat it like an interview. Dont be a stick in the mud but be professional. Remembers SWA's mantra, you can be a goof ball and a professional at the same time. I Chose HPA because of their relationship with SWA.....and they are very tight!

Although they (SWA) may have some form of a connection, most likely due to location only, you cannot get your type and hit the line and do IOE. The instructors and D.E.’s are not on SWA’s paper work and thus cannot sign you off for such. Plus, you only get a 737 type, not instruction on the FOM.

And I think they (HPA) still teach in the -200. No big deal, but the last -200 left LUV in Jan.

Got ya beat by 2 weeks! PM me closer to that time and we'll get together on the 3rd for a few beers after I finish my checkride.... :D

I chose HPA based on their reputation. There is a place that does 737 training right here in my own town, but they're fairly new and somewhat unknown. HPA was highly recommended by several friends and co-workers....so that's where I'm going.
