Walked out into the backyard this afternoon to find one of two dogs missing. My lab dug a hole under my fence. So the wife and two kids and I split up and spend about a hour driving through town searching. We finally find the bastard. So I leave my house with my three year boy to go and get some dirt and rocks to fill the whole. As I'm walking into the store the wife calls to tell me that the Fire Dept is at the house. She proceeds to tell me that while giving our month old boy a bath that steam from the bathroom set off the alarm. The security company calls but she can't get to the phone in time, so they call and dispatch the Fire Dept. Wait it gets better. This is now our second false alarm, my 3 yr old set off the alarm last month so this one will cost us 100-200 dollars. I arrive at home to find my stressed out wife saying, " thank god your dad and stepmom are coming over tonight to baby sit" Two minutes later my dad calls and cancels because my stepmoms elder mother is sick. Hope your weekend is going better than mine!!!!!!

Hmmm... Let's see if I can come close. I'm an instructor. It's Saturday 3P, I am sitting at the flight school. This morning had a local flight to do some touch and goes and prepare my student for solo. He can't remember if power or pitch control airspeed. He thinks he can't turn base until tower clears him to land. Pulls power to 15 and dumps flaps when we are on 3 mile final. Kicks the left rudder on takeoff... He's got 15 hours now. Then a cross country. Oh yes, nothing planned, just a chart with a line. Can't remember how to use the E6B. We plan together for the 5th time. Forgets how to talk on the radio. Misses every call, holds altitude +- 300 feet, forgets to start a descent, can't figure out where the 45 is, doesn't pull the power to land, doesn't slow down, the runway is 3000ft and we have to go around cause he overshoots. That's the good stuff. Oh yeah, I have two ground lessons in about an hour to prep students for the oral. Wo-hoo!!!

At least I get paid for the experience though.
Hope it gets better tomorrow!

Hmm... Let me see if I can come close. I am sitting here after watching the Offense-less Buckless Buckeyes of OSU almost bite the dust (once again). ( can't wait till they travel to the "Big House" to play Michigan).... I am just a tad shaken by just the thought of having to fly a trip tomm. (sunday) and to put the icing on the cake it is a 715 am departure. :( - And you thought your weekend was going bad.....

I'm sitting here in dispatch watching my last bank of flights depart for their outstations, and surfing (since the weather is severe VFR)

Home by 8p on a saturday night - cool - too bad I feel like crap to do anything

Hi...

Let's see....

Today is my "middle" daughters' 19th birthday. She left about a half hour ago with some friends to walk around some type of street fair. I'm going to the backyard and float around in the pool....maybe even swim a few laps....nah....I think I'll just lounge. Not a bad day at all. Could be a lot worse......apparently.

Regards

my weekend started out great! found out i'd have a duty-time problem finishing the trip, so got the last turn chopped off, home by noon today. of course, woke up at 430 this morning, so a little tired this afternoon, but forcing myself to stay awake long enough to see at least the first half of the notre dame/michigan game...... fell asleep before kickoff.. wake up, angered with myself because i realized i slept through the whole thing, but, wait..! 5 minutes left! but, wait.. notre dame is losing... so, now i'm mad at myself that i woke up to see the last 5 minutes of the game.
wife's out of town, and the dog has a tendency to forget to tell me he needs to go out. so after i finish fuming about the irish game, start smelling that distinct odor of dog poop by the back door. yep, he did.
would like to go get a beer, but too lazy, tired and still mad about the game/dog poop to go pick up a six pack.

but all in all, think it's better than the first post.. by the way, how in the heck does steam set off a fire alarm?!

I came home last night from Pittsburgh to a dark city. Hurricane Isabel knocked out power to over one million customers in the Tidewater Area of Virginia. Trees down everywhere. 9 PM curfew last night, so I wasn't able to get dinner! Got out tonight to an area with power, had a nice dinner and went to the mall. I'm seriously considering the Bose X headset with no interest financing till Jan. '05. I'm home now, in the dark, draining my laptop battery, gotta go! :)

p.s. No flights scheduled until Thursday, although I'm sure something will pop up!

I found out on friday that the management at the hopispital my wife works at, called all the clerical staff into a "surprise" meeting. At the meeting, they anounced that everybody was going to have to go home and provide updated resumes and job applications, so they can come in on tuesday and re-apply for their jobs. It sounds like a musical chair thing...because there will be a few less jobs, than applicants...all of whom already work there. Kind of an odd dealio.

One of the girls that was at the meeting, wound up having a grand mall seizure afterwards and had to go to the ER.

weekend

Well, it started early this morning with the dog wanted to go out at 6:00 am.then getting up after that at 7:30 to take the truck to the shop,o and breakfast with the wife then on to lowes to spend 1.5 hrs looking at glass block, hay just pick a patteren all ready.
Mean while , rode back to the dealer ship to get truck , done on time .
Looking at the eveil little coulds as I drive to the airport to fly, get there get the weather,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,ugh,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,clouds & more clouds at 1,000 ft,,,,,,,,, nope no flying to day,,,,,,,,,,,back home ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,may be fly sunday ?????

I'm happy to say that after 20 years of flying, I've finally reached the point where I can totally goof off on a beautiful Saturday in Chicago. I ended up with 15 days off this month, spent a long Labor Day RON in SEA with the wife, went deep sea fishing in Key West last week, came home Thursday while leaving her with her parents until tonight, got some freebies at the 1 year anniversary of my favorite guitar shop in town, spent numerous hours with the dogs today, went to dinner with my Dad last night (he paid), don't have to worry about the Bears losing this weekend, and might just get some after picking the wife up at MDW in an hour or so. Wish me luck.

All in all, not a bad month.

PS. If NC gets another hurricane swell, I'm goin' surfing.

I had my L39 out today and took several people up for rides.

Naturally, the last one threw up all over the cockpit. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
That will teach me to do keep things a little more straight and level in the future.

Passengers tossing it in your plane...that's never fun.

Boeingman...do you know Don Kirlin? He's big into those L39's. I think he even had/has a MIG 21 or 25, I believe.

I don't know him, but I have heard the name. Isn't he a broker working with Czech Jet? I've seen the name on a couple of L-39 forums in the past.

You want me to tell you about the father pushing his handicaped child in a wheel chair in church today? I would take any one of your days compared to any of his days. Everything is relative.

I think so, I just did a search on him and found his name on several L-39's for sale on a L-39 website. I met him a long time ago. Don't know him all that well. I remember when he brought his first L-39 out to UIN's world freefall convention. He was flying time off with his instructor. His instructor actually got suckered into having to do a tandem skydive. As if breaking civilians in on warbird jets isn't scary enough. Kirlin flies for some airline...never really had any reason to ask which one. Seemed like a really nice guy.

I LOST MY FRIGGIN WALLET!!!

Cancel credit cards... few phone calls
Cancel check card... whatever
Replace gym card... replacement fees!
Replace AAA card... it's expiring this month anyways
Replace AOPA card... easy stuff
Replace Social Security Card... have no idea how
Replace Driver's License... oh wait, it's a CA DL, and I live in TX! this one is going to be hard
Replace Pilot's License... I'm flying tomorrow AM, think they are open on sundays???
Replace Green Card... SHEEEEEEAAAAAAT!

WHY WHY WHY!?!?!? My day was getting better when I walked into the bar!!! Unfortunately only enough cash for ONE beer!

YUCK. At least I am alive, and didn't push anyone in a wheel chair. Could be much worse.... Could be much better!

I'm venting. Thanks for listening

I'm alive... that counts for something doesn't it?
It sho nuff does!

hope you got all your credit cards cancelled on time! That can be such a bummer. Hope a good samaritan does the right thing here and returns your purse. I was unemployed once, waiting for the results of a job interview...as I was going about my day, I found a wallet and returned it to it's rightfull owner. I wound up getting the job and it was a good one. Co-inky-dink? Probably so, but I would return a wallet or purse anyway. It's just the right thing to do...no matter what your views on religion, politics or the second amendment are.

Mine is going pretty well. I turned left right in front of a cop, and, did I mention, there was a no left turn sign I failed to see. The cop, a very polite and professional young man, pulled me over and gave me a verbal warning for my transgression. He then mentioned it was a 104 dollar ticket if he had been so inclined to write the citation.
This was shortly after a very skilled DC9 crew accomplished a bottoms out approach into homeplate while I was jumpseating home ; so I didn't have to jump through hoops to get to a familiar bed. On the downside Notre Dame lost so life does have a bittersweet taste.

Weekend

I'm sitting at my computer, reading the board. That's how part of my weekend is going.

Seriously, not bad. We went to the Air Force Academy yesterday and watched Air Force beat Wyoming, 35-29. The game itself notwithstanding, it was cool to watch the Academy parachute team jump out of their Twin Otter and land on the field. Also, the flyover of four C-130s at low level, and the falcon exhibition at halftime, were fun.

Riddle Momma, just go to your local Social Security office to obtain a replacement card. Here's the Social Security website that explains the procedure.

Oh and almost forgot to add, I had sushi/sashimi tonight!

What better way to spend a Saturday night then at a quality all-you-can-eat? Only if the waves were still cranking down here in Florida. Oh well, can’t have everything right?

That was yesterday.

Today (Sunday) was the icing on the cake. This morning I was awaken early by my Pops telling me that some surf came up. This was such a nice surprise. Nothing like surfing all day with your best friend in the whole world (my Pops) and then go back for another night of all-you-can-eat sushi. What a great weekend it was! Driving back up to north-central Florida with some reggae (Christafari rocks!!) playing and a beautiful sunset was the perfect backdrop to replay all the nice memories I made this weekend. Also I got to see two of my favorite preachers in person--Dr. Tony Evens and Pastor Bob Coy. What a good God we have!!!!!

:D :D :D

jesus christ. i'm fine with the "being a christian" shiit, but give it a rest.

"i didn't pee on the seat this time. god must've been holding my penis."

"the light turned green before i even had to touch the brakes. what an awesome jesus i have."

"my dinner was nice. god made my egg salad with extra love."

christ man. relax. believe it. live it. love it. lick it. suck it. who cares? but i'm guessing i'm not the only one getting sick of reading jesus shiit in every thread. give the sinners a break, will ya?

Huh!

Nothing personal...I was just in a "rage against the machine" mood this morning.

I can say that my weekend never got as bad as the original poster of this thread, but it did end in an unexpected disapointment.

After driving 125 miles to go up north to the town of Shiocton to go lob some 7.62 mm down range, we decide to go across the street to visit with some of the old skydiver buddies. After a beer or two, one of the jump pilots tells me has two "FREE" tickets to mudvayne, playing at the "RAVE" in milwaukee.

So we follow this guy all the way down there, find some free parking a few blocks away. Turn down a few offers of crack from the homies and a few offers of extasy from the urban white dudes. Get inside and I see they are running metal detectors all over everybody. No big deal...it's a good thing, just didn't expect it. So I tell the couple that invited us along...(they had "regular" tickets to get in) that I gotta go back to the car to get rid of my Carson Designs "CRKT" Tanto folding knife. It's a little bit of insurance I carry in my pocket, in case I got a letter to open or a stray rottweiller to intimidate. So me and the wife navigate back to the car, negotiating all the sidewalk sales and what not. Drop the knife off in the trunk.

We head back to the "RAVE" and with our special tickets, which require a two drink minimum, we are ushered out of the metal detector line and are sent down to the basement to get our REAL tickets. In the basement, is like a bar, but they are not serving drinks...there is a bunch of people packed around the bar and we finally get the attention of one of the people behind the bar. He tells us our "FREE" ticket entitles us to spend 18 dollars a piece to go to the concert. We have to write our name on the back and address, plus the name of the person that gave us the tickets. Then for 36 bucks, we get to have two drinks and a free concert.

Anybody ever heard of such marketing...sounds like they are giving away these "FREE" tickets with the paid tickets, making you think they are doing something for you. Then you drag a bunch of your friends with you from the burbs. Your freinds get in line and then find out they gotta leave and wait for you outside if they don't pay 18 bucks to get into the "FREE" concert. So they snag a bunch of unsuspecting people into paying to go to the concert under this guise.

We just left and headed home.
