Just wondering how busy the reserves have been at Mesaba since the last round of furloughes? I was straight reserve in Feb. but wasn't that busy. After 2/15 things picked up a little, and they did try to JM me once.

I was curious if they might have to start recalling due to attrition pretty soon. I know that it doesn't really matter though, if they are going to keep getting rid of planes and slashing pay etc.

So far this month, I've been used to fly a three day trip... That's it... But every week that I start my stretch of reserve, they call me and change my contact period... What is the point of bidding...

My February was a bit slow too. I think I've worked every day so far this month, but the days have been faily easy.

150 of us on the street and they needed to junior man!!!!! Hope everyone told them to call a furloughee. What the "fudge", enough packing it already.
between all the bs here and at Northwest, I think shutting the doors would be better than a recall. At least then I know there is no reason to wait any longer to go back to school.

I was in the DTW crewroom last Thursday and there were 3 FO's reporting for their junior-man. I have also flown with about 4 captains in the last couple of weeks who said they either were junior-manned or got a call. Obviously the reserves aren't enough to cover everything.

The scheduling ladies are saying that we're now in the part of the month where there will be rampant FO junior manning and, obviously, captains have been getting junior manned all month...

Ill give you one better. We have LCA Captains flying in the right seat as FO's getting paid God know whats in OT and JR Man. I know for a fact that when you interview for a LCA position that you are never intended for this type of abuse unless you are doing training and getting that ol 10 bucks extra. Not to mention the ethical delima with accepting that sh** while we have guys on unemployment. SPANJERS YOUR GAY!!!!!

The weak dick LCA's that will not refuse to fly as an FO while there is a tenth of the pilots furloughed are the ones that have to live with being scum bags. It probably carries over into their home lives as well. I think there is a reason that some of the LCA's were "chosen" by management for that position. It sure has heck wasn't because they were the best pilots at XJ.

You're telling me that LCA's are willingly flying right seat. I guess it really is everyone for themselves even inside one company. Remind me again what the hell a union is supposed to be about. (not an alpa bash, I'm sure IBT, APA, ect. are just as bad) This isn't a union around this industry, it's a pack. A pack of wolves feedin on whatever they can and when that runs out they eat each other. Unbelievable.
This job makes me :puke:

Too bad we can't shut down the whole industry, clean house, and start over.

Hey, can a current XJer post here when the new bid packs come out for May. I am curious to know how many Avros they have scheduled for May. And by the way, does anyone know how many they have scheduled for April?
Thanks.

Check the contract. LCA's have to fly as FO to prevent JM. Unless they want a flight refusal.

I doesn't matter I guess. Half of the captains are gonna be FO's anyway. Better get all the money that one can today.

Don't "diss" our LCA's. They are good guys and they've all been here a long time. This fight is about our crummy managers, not our pilots.

Been there...

Unfortunately guys, get used to seeing some of your coworkers snarf up open time and accept junior manning. I've been through 3 furloughs in the last 5 years, 2 of them being from the same company. At said company, which is represented by a very large national union, had some spineless folks working there. In fact, as I was turning in my ID badge on the first day of my second furlough, as I was being escorted by SECURITY past the crew sked desk, there were numerous pilots putting in paperwork to pick up open time! This was work that could have kept someone employed. But, there are some that don't understand what is morally right, and will work like that out of shelfish greed.

Welcome to the eat-your-own world of airline pilots. Pathetic.

QUOTE]I'm not sure for April, but no Memphis AVRO flying as of June...[/QUOTE]

Anyone able to back up this quote?

MM,

Most all of the XJ LCA guys are good pilots, instructors, and people. There are a couple that over the years and during previous furloughs, did not mind flying in the right seat collecting captain pay at time and half either because they were JM'd into it or they went out and picked it up on their own from open time.

Question.....if a LCA flies as FO to prevent a JM, who is doing his trip? One from the abundant pool of reserve captains? Or is he himself JM'd into it? Either way, it does not prevent a JM event 100% of the time, as the contract would like to have one believe.

First of all....classy comment on us "Weak Dick" LCA's. At leat somebody read the contract and found that we are required to fly right seat to PREVENT a junior manning situation. As far as who does the LCA's trip you first of all must understand that the only time this provision in the contract is used is to prevent a FO junior man event. In that case we fly the right seat on the flight/trip that we were origionally scheduled to fly and a reserve captain is used to fly the left. If we are short on captains this provision wouldn't help unless they got us at home on a day off...But who answers their phones on a day off? A little advise....make sure you make the "weak-dick" comment next time you need a line check or when you start OE.. I'm sure it will go real smooooothhhhhh.

Can somebody please tell a couple of the LCA's to say NO just a few times so I can get recalled this summer before my twins come. Unemployment only lasts so long. Stop doing my job. Thank you.

There was a captain a few years back in RHI that refused to do the right seat gig and his LCA status was removed. Essentially he was fired from the LCA position for not taking the trip. Do you guys really believe that these LCA's want to fly in the right seat or do any extra flying for that matter.

LMAO!!!

I know that came across pretty harsh, but like I later said, most all the LCA's are really good peeps. When I was an FO, I hated nothing more than hearing how a LCA or an instructor would pick up FO open time for time and a half on their days offs. Not only are they saying screw the guys on furlough, but also screw the rest of the FO's who might need the extra time to make up for 7 year FO pay. There were/are only a handful of these guys, but I will still stick with my original eval of them. And NO, I don't need to tell them what I think of them. They probably already know and obviously don't care. Plus, if one does SOP on a line check or OE, they got nothing to say, so it wil go smooth. They can just fill in their squares on their paperwork and go on to the next assignment. The are professionals, correct?

Too bad about the RHI guy as well. He was a good pilot and person. Joe showed his true colors with that episode. Glad to see that he moved on to better things.
