Let's differentiate between "layover" and "overnight". There have not been any layovers since the "good ol' days. Today we have overnights. Make the best of them. Find the best restaurants and bars and be happy with that.
Enough said. This industry is changed whether we like it or not.

What is that old joke.......The Perfect Layover?

Perfect layover for the Flight Engineer is to get laid by two flight attendants
Perfect layover for the First Officer is to have a BM and get laid by one flight attendant
Perfect layover for the Captain....to have a BM.
