Where and how do I apply to DAL/CAL?
Don't listen to this bunch of jokers...Both of these companies now require you to first post your resume on Monster.com. A "recruiter" will contact you via email, often under the guise of a mult-level marketing representative, but that is just a test to weed out dimwits.

cal...why would you want to do that?

Be careful about saying this, or you will get the wrath for simply having an opinion from the brainwashed and brainless CAL pilots on this board.

Here's a serious question. From most people I talk to a lot of people have reservations and/or bad things to say about CAL (i.e. "I'll never apply to CAL" etc). Now, I realize that they have EXTREMELY low first year pay, and they don't have insurance for six months.

That aside, are there any other reasons why a lot of people seem to diss CAL? They make Fortune's list of top company's to work for consistently while other majors do not.

Frankly, I know nothing about CAL, but don't let the folks here fool you. They are good about hiding behind a computer screen and beating there chest. I went to a job fair several weeks ago, and the wait to talk with a CAL rep was over 2 hrs...go figure.

Pocono,

Welcome to the ignore list. I hope I run into you trying to jumpseat someday. I'm sure you won't be so outspoken at that time but I still appreciate the ride. Good luck.

It's very easy. Go to the upper left part of your screen and click on "User CP". Scroll down the list the the bottom. You will see a choice called "Buddy/Ignore list". I would reccomend the "ignore" selection. It can't be much fun for Pocono when nobody responds to the he/she. Is a he/she technically a transsexual or transgendered?

Pocono, you're a freakin' idiot.

From my perspective (9 yrs at CAL, recent IAH 737 CA upgrade), CAL ain't a bad place to be. But then again, what would I know since I'm obviously brainwashed, brainless and all that.

Besides the pay issue many guys are miserable with their new pref bid system. Then again they did sign it in without a rules package. I chose to stay at XJT and turn down my spot at CAL. With the exception of the pay (in later years) our contract is leaps and bounds better in every respect. For me the pay would have taken 7 years to break even on 737 blended rate. Assuming I did not take a upgrade right away. The most junior 73 captain is only around 5 years but thats because so many FO bypass upgrade for quality of life. A statement to how bad the contract is.

All they do is pay Fortune a lot of money to be on that list. Fortune does not put you on that list for free!

Too bad they feel it is better to be in some magazine instead of paying first year FOs benefits.
