Care to answer if you borescope (or have your engine borsecoped) routinely such as with every annual/condition inspection? When I paid to have my condition inspection done, the A&P/IA did not borescope it, and quite frankly the entire inspection was minimal hence why I never went back to that location. I have my repairman certificate and have done my own inspections since but I think I finally found someone reputable and may go to him this fall on the next inspection. As a new aircraft owner, there are things like this I have to learn and I learned from others that shared a problem which makes me very interested in learning more about this.

I'm going to inquire with my local maintenance shop about this but I also want to learn how to do it as there is no harm with looking myself from time to time. With that said, anyone have a good recommendation for a borescope that works well for this? I have the one linked below but haven't used it yet for an engine borescope, I learned of it with my RVing (motorhome) and use it to find something dropped, etc.

I look forward to learning from others on their borescope used and lessons learned, findings, etc. when having your engine borsecoped.

Every 100 hours I borescope. Mike Busch recommends this as it will get you ahead of any exhaust valve issue. $300 gets you the latest ViVidia 400i borescope from Amazon.

I ordered this one. Will see how it looks. As I have an untrained eye I will likely get my local shop to do the first one as my engine is under warranty and I need a good look. Won't hurt for me to check at every condition inspection just to stay educated to the health from what I can see.

Nice unit!
Are you familiar with Mike Busch and his book on engines? If you aren’t familiar, he is considered the airplane engine guru. He has fantastic books on aircraft and engine maintenance.

I have his books, have to read them. Just like his videos, they are long winded...have to commit to the read :)
