Which is why War with Iran will happen within 5 years

I was just in Buenos Aires Saturday... He's not there.

Who knows? Oil is oil, its not the ultimate dictator of the world economies. Now, a nuke going off in NYC, Paris, London? Yeah... that will have a bigger effect than crude hitting $150/barrel.

It doesn't even have to be a Nuke.

A dirty bomb, that makes Manhattan, uninhabitable for decades? Talk about shock waves to the economy.

True, post 9/11, many of the financial institutions have back up locations, some in New Jersey. But imagine the impact coast to coast if everyone was thinking, what city is next?

Its just a matter of time before we attack Iran. I can't imagine the US Gov't allowing those nut cases to develop a Nuke.

The oil prices rising now is good for us, as it will encourage us to kick our foreign oil addiction sooner rather than later. Prices WILL be going up, down the road, and DRASTICALLY. The sooner we stop using oil as a major transportation fuel, the better. That is THE main reason the AF and DOD are trying to wean themselves from oil ASAP. The AF goal is 50% non-oil based jet fuel for ALL domestic flying by 2016!!!

If we had a leader in the WH, we would be well on our way to energy independance. Two years and have you heard anything on his energy policy that would work toward that? He has worked hard though on allowing gays and lesbians to serve in the military.

Right! But what about the other Presidents over the past 40 years?

Congress has far more power than any President and we keep electing the same gas bags every 2 and 6 years.

Fracs, and general aviation, will tank this year again if oil prices increase. Most FBOs, manufacturers, fracs, and other segments of the industry haven't receovered from 2008 and we are all doomed if we don't see more of a recoevery.

2010 flight activity was up a whopping 4.4% over 2009 and here is what happened in January, 2011-

ARGUS Releases January Business Aircraft Activity

Cincinnati, Ohio, February 14, 2011….ARGUS TRAQPak data is serial-number specific aircraft arrival and departure information on all IFR flights in the US (including Alaska and Hawaii). The tables below reflect business aircraft activity data for January 1-31, 2011 vs. December 1-31, 2010 and January 1-31, 2011 vs. January 1-31, 2010 respectively. Note: Part 135 charter certificate flight activity reflects flights of aircraft on Part 135 charter certificates irrespective of the mission type. Customers may call +1 800.361.2216 to request a copy of this market intelligence report.

January 2011 flight activity drops off slightly after holiday season. TRAQPak data indicates January business aircraft activity was down -5.5% from December. Looking at operational categories, the fractional and part 135 segments both saw the largest month over month decreases, down -9.2% and -8.9% respectively. The Part 91 market was off slightly from December, down -2.2%. Reviewing aircraft categories, the turboprop and mid-size cabin markets saw the biggest month over month decreases, down -8.6% and -4.9% respectively. The one bright spot was the large cabin segment showing a 1.2% increase over December.

Comparing year over year results (January 2011 vs. January 2010) aircraft activity was up slightly 0.5%. Looking at operational categories, the Part 91 segment had an increase of 6.0%, Part 135 and fractional markets both saw activity decrease, down -7.2% and -0.5% respectively. Reviewing aircraft category results, large cabin and mid-size jets were up 3.0% and 2.0% in that order. Small cabin jets showed a slight increase over last year at 0.7%, while turboprops saw a decrease, down -1.5%. Looking at individual market segments, the fractional turboprop sector continues to show the largest increase, up 8.2% from the same period last year.

Nixon and Carter seriously worked on reducing our dependance on foreign oil.

Ford, Reagan, Bush, Clinton, Bush, and Obama have done jack.

Gun, the 680 weighs a little over 30000#.

The X and the Falcon weigh about the same ... So flying at the same speed, you would expect about the same fuel flows. The X going at top speed is what makes it a fuel hog.

680 is about 6000 lbs lighter ... so yeah it would save a lot of fuel. I thought it was a lot closer to the X's weight.

I agree but, the burden falls on the one who can lead presently. We can all argue how bad previous presidents did and blame everything on George Bush, but Obama campaigned on it and nothing has been done. He spent the enitre first year of his presindency on health care. It needed to be addresses but energy independance has national security implications, one of the main puposes of the federal government. Like him or not, we need a Chris Christie type person in the WH. Not affraid to act, not worried about what he says.

A dirty bomb could never happen with any effect. It would take so much radioactive material that it would kill the bomb maker(s) before they could finish making it.

You are correct. Obama was the first canadate to campaign on "change" and "cleaning up Washington". It's never been tried before. If only previous Presidential Candidates had thought to use "change" as rhetoric...
