In other words, I understand that it's hard to earn a living while being at the bottom of the pilot food chain, but once you get a few thousand hours, does your pay go up or not?

Pilot pay in not in direct proportion to one's experience as a pilot. It only goes up if you stay with the same company. If you make a move, then you start from the bottom again. There are exceptions to the rule where some companies hire captains "off the street" right into the left seat. Then its possible to go from one captain job to another.

in the corporate world, the bigger the airplane, the bigger the pay and also the bigger the suitcase!!

If you want to stay corporate find out what the zero fuel weight is compared to the BOW weight, the more narrow the margin. the less bags the boss can take. this should mean that he cant stay gone long!!

for pay, check out www.omnijet.com they have operational information on a wide range of corporate aircraft and pilot salary is included. It seems to be a fairly good range for were I am at now.

You saying this is your sequence since hired? Meaning you made Capt your 3rd year and after 6 yrs you were a 3 yr capt making $80k (in the training dept)? Thanks

That's correct.

EMB120 Capt during my 3rd year, which is really after being here 24months (you start 3rd yr in month 25 etc)

Currently in 6th yr having been here 5+
