Curious how many of your pilots/cfis/etc exercise on a schedule.

We have a weight room here at my apartment, and I'm thinking it might keep me in shape for flying and physically feeling better if I hit the weightroom every morning early before I head out to the FBO.

Yeah I exercise... try to do it at least every weekday.

I normally run / lift / swim / bike.

The main problem is staying motivated to go to the gym!

It is hard to motivate when you are busting your ba!!s at work, but trust me that it actually gives you more energy for the day. I try and go surfing/kiteboarding/swimming/hiking at least a few times a week. Really I think everyone should find something they enjoy doing first and then go for it... much easier to motivate if you enjoy what it is you are doing for exercise.

Coffee/candy bars/junkfood is good when you are in need and have not planned ahead. But really the 'average' day should have some relation to what mom was always yappin' at you to eat as a kid. You are also less likely to need bandaids for your chin (by cutting it on the dash) when you fall asleep from the candy-bar-comedown.

Living in the part of Orlando where all the beautiful people are you have to exercise to keep up with the Jone's. Yea baby, me and my 99 Buick. It's cool to be cool.

That's great!

Just finished my first marathon on Sunday.

So when did the marathon start - Saturday?

I exercise too. I do plenty of forearm curls with a
frosty 24oz mug of "wheat juice." I've come to think
of the barley and hops brew as health food.

Yeah, that's the ticket.

My Motivation has always been that walking around the airport you dont see many fat pilots.

It is true, by working out in the morning you feel better throughout the day. Another tip too I learned. Always work out on Monday that will set the tone for the week. And plan a work-out time in your schedule that is off limits. That way you are more inclined to go.

On a side not I read the 1 in 7 Americans is obese. that is disgusting. What are we as a nation coming too.

D

PS I am a golds gym member. Does anyone use their gym while on the road a lot.

I started working out only after I stopped flying. Truth was that I couldn't get motivated to exercise while I was on the road because the overnights were so short, and I didn't want to pay for a gym at home since I just wanted to spend my 11 days off per month with my family.

But now with all this free time, I'm going 3-5 times a week. Maybe I'll get in some open hockey this year, too.

I do, religiously. Never did before I was diagnosed a diabetic, but now I gotta stay ahead of the FAA and the medical!

You ever been to Walmart?

Hey Singlespeed.......I've been to WalMart.....see you there all the time.

How's that greeter job going???

LOL going great, I have a part-time gig at the one in HYS. I thought I saw you there getting an app. I'll put in a good word for you.

Must of been my twin brother you saw in HYS.

I am applying to be a national Wal Mart greeter. The way it works is that whenever I fly to XYZ and spend 10 hours waiting on PAX......I will go to the nearest store and work as a greeter during that "down time".

Easy way to pick up some extra $$$......I highly suggest it!!

I try to exercise every 2 or 3 day. Jogging/running for about 60 min. outside, hotel gym or fitness club.

Exercise

Have a Bally's Membership; works Nationwide as well as Ontario&Quebec; also if overnight has little to nothing for exercise facilities they better "TREAT ME RIGHT" by having liberal van transport to a nearby health club or activities(or else that hotel gets written up to union &/or company); also have bad family health history, so I work to counteract that as well as to maintain the medical. Recommend LOSS OF MEDICAL insurance to those of you who are represented by ALPA(pays you a percentage of your current wages until you return to flight status or AGE 60).Check it out!
