In my area two flight schools went out of business, CAPT (Commercial Airline Pilot Training) in Flagler, Fl and RAA (Regional Airline Academy) in Deland, Fl. Over 200+ students left losing the deposits they paid.

How many other flight school in your area have closed up?

Why do people deposit money with aviation dumbsh*ts? Doesn't anyone know the crooked types that run amok in this business?

I'd only agree to put deposit in escrow, where they can get paid only after I've completed a flight/flights.

Simple.

BTW; no one has closed up shop where I live. Yet.
