How long it take for private, inst. comm. and ME ratings

Hey everyone,

I'll be starting a part 141 and part 61 school this week to get my ratings (private, instrument, commercial, and multi engine). I'll be going full time and I was wondering how fast I can get those in. Also, which of those did you all find the hardest?

Instrument through Commercial Multi took 9 months at a 141 school. The hardest while in training was commercial single, probably because I ran into so many obstacles (mx, wx) that frustrated my training.

I look back and can say the hardest as far as knowledge requirements, knowledge retainment is Instrument.

I found the instrument to be the most difficult, but also the most fun and the most rewarding. How fast you complete them is really up to you and your budget. Work hard, do your studying, and I think you'll find that you can progress quite rapidly.

i also found instrument to be the most dificult. but as soon as i got that on my ticket i wondered why it was so hard. i think its more the kknowledge about IFR that did it more that the flying

You can get this done much faster than 9 months depending on the mx, wx, instructor availability, and how much time you are willing to devote to flying and studies per day. Not sure one was harder than the other, the key is having a good instructor not merely a time builder and being able to learn, understand, and absorb as much as possible among other things early on in your training. A strong work ethic, dedication, and motivation will be instrumental in your success throughout your flight training.
