to accumulate over 10,000 flight hours and be a Captain on a 727 as well as an Airbus all before your 31st Birthday?

Does anyone know how this career path could materialize?

Would I have to skip college to do this?

High School?

Well, break out your calculators and history of this industry for the last 10 years and help me solve this mystery, please?!?!?

Thanks a million.

Sincerely,

B. Franklin

I have a friend who accomplished all of that all by his 32nd birthday. He went to college, then pencil-whipped the b'jesus out of his logbook when he graduated.

Hey Ben,

You seem awful pissed off lately, who or waht has crawled up your a$$?

Just curious

I'm not pi$$ed off.

These message boards rarely show any emotion.

Do you have any input into the actual topic of this post?

Sincerely,

B. Franklin

Can't say that I do, outside of seriously pencil-whipping the log book, I don't know how one could achieve what you talked about, perhaps with a ton of cash flow.

I was just reading some of your other posts and this one, and you just seemed a bit irritated.....

I never said I was a Captain on both 727 and A320 Ben. I was on the panel of the 72 before I got on at Jet Blue. I got hired at Eagle right out of college when I was 23 so it shouldn't be that hard for a simple mind to comprehend how I advanced. Heck...I know several people who are NWA and UAL mainline Captains and are only in their mid 30's. It was just dumb luck for me to get on at Jet Blue when I did but I rolled the dice and took a chance with them when they were still kind of an unknown.

I can think of how it wouldn't be that hard... our youngest Captain at PCL had nearly 4,000 hours when he finally reached 23 years old and could upgrade... how did he do it? He had all his ratings and 500 hours straight out of high school, flight instructed and towed banners to the tune of 700 hours per year for two years then got hired here and was a line holder almost immediately due to the hiring trend.

He's now a Captain at 23, taking correspondence college courses and will have his 4 year degree sometime next summer with 5,000 hours total time, 3,500 of that jet, 1,000+ jet PIC at 24 years old. VERY smart guy, has that Nordic blonde look all the college chicks seem to swoon over, and will probably be flying heavy metal about the same time I get back there, while being nearly 10 years younger than me... I hate him. :D (I'm kidding, I consider him a friend and he's a very well-liked guy here).

Assuming our average line value is 90 hours per month = 1,000 hours per year (we're going to have a LOT of people timing out in November this year), and at 29 he'll have 10,000+ hours...

H*ll, I was 29 when I upgraded to CA on the 727 and was applying to jetBlue - they called me the third month they were in operation for an interview, but I had been flying Lears mostly (18,000 # MTOW) and had just upgraded on the 727 and only had 600 hours over 20,000 pounds so they told me to reapply when I had the mins. A year later, EVERYONE was applying and I haven't heard back since... bummer.

Just depends when you started flying I guess and what your career progression was...

It's possible.

Get you cfi at 18, instruct for a year (1000hrs)
Part 135 at 19 yrs (1400hrs)
part 121 at 20 yrs (800hrs)
capt at 23, by now you have 4800 hrs. 7 years later at an airline at aprox 800hrs a year you have 10,000 plus hours.

and a lot of luck!!

oh yeah, i'm 24 with 5500hrs..(who really cares!!)

and no pencil wippen

So rolling the dice is ok for you, but not for others?

COEX was an unknown back when they trained IN the B1900 and failed people for being 1/16th of a dot left of course outside the marker.

You bash XJT pilots for being scabs and yet you are flying an A-320 for pay rates WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY below what other airlines are paying, even UAL's concessionary rates!

Take your "scab", "pft" and "aviation whore" talk somewhere else, because the EXACT same argument can be made for the one year Jet Blue Captains out there making.. what was it , like $90 an hour??? 50-70% below what other airlines were paying for THE SAME JOB.

Even a simple mind can figure out that Jet Blue pilots have sold out the industry with their non-union wages. Just like Mesa, but with bigger planes....for now

Simple minds roll dice, advanced minds own the casino.

I am all done....

Oh, thanks to all who replied... I know how it's possible to get that kind of time in 15 years... I just wanted LeBastard to come out with who he worked for so we could all see what a lame argument he makes against XJT and my "alleged" Scab background.

I hope that LeMoron doesn't represent a majority of Jet Blue pilots out there.

Sincerely,

B. Franklin

Ben, this all started when you began bashing Mesa. Coming from a PFT guy, you don't have much credibility. I was wrong with my Scab remark and I'm sorry. However, for the majority of us who didin't PFT, PFTers don't rank much above Scabs.

The same Mesa who flies the same planes for lower wages, Just like Jet Blue whores?

You're done, a$$wipe.

and PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE PROVE to the world that I pFT'd... you know that you have no proof so shut the FUKC up.

Boy, there are some Sour Grapes. Mr I bought my Job (Ben Frankln) has the Sour Grapes to call Jet Blue pilots Whores just because they aren't flying the Bus for Legacy Mainline rates. Goes to show what this simple mind knows. Wonder why so many pilots would kill to get on at JBLU these days? Obviousally, Ben don't know.

Tell us all how it feels to whore yourseslf out to Neeleman for below market rates.....

Tell us all how you have to PICK UP OPEN TIME to make more money...

Tell us how much the Jet Blue stock options will be worth for the guys getting hired today (AFTER THEY VEST)...

Tell us how great it feels to have Jet Blue's success resting square on your back...

Tell us about how it feels to undercut honest, union labor at other airlines...

How do you spot the Airbus pilot at the bar?
He's the one with nothing between his legs.

Sincerely,

B. Franklin

When are you labor talks going to be finished. I can't wait to see how muck the bar is raised. When you go on strike I guess Messa will start painting there planes in Co EX colors. I bet J.O. has a whole hanger full waiting to go.
