How do the tall guys get trained?

I went for my introductory flight a couple weeks ago. The cfi I went to said according to the 172 specs, I'd be able to fly it. However when I got into the pilot's seat, he said I am not going to be able to fly that plane.
My proportions are out of kilter. While sitting, it was like there were two immovable visors on each side of my head, aka wings.
He adjusted the seat all the way down & back to no avail.
He apologized, said he's never had this problem before and informed me I'd need a larger plane to train in. Maybe a 182.
Searched online for any local schools with a 182, no luck.

What are my options in this situation?

Usually it's just Aileron Diamonds that are a problem for tall guys...

A Stearman, Waco or N3N would work but you're going to be hard pressed to find anyone who will do basic-or any other for that matter-training in one of them!

I'm not sure a 182 or even 206 would be that much taller inside and I'm pretty sure the Piper Cherokee line won't be any help in that regard...

Perhaps one of the Beechcraft? They're going to be really pricey if you can find one to rent, you may be better off buying one if it is something that will work.

I' am having a hard time picturing this 172? I am 6'3" and 300+ and have had no issues in a 172. I have flown the L,M,N,P & R models without issues. Have you tried a different flight school? C182, C206 and C210 wouldn't offer that much more room.

Why are the visors that far back?
