I went with a private and left with CFI. MEI, II and Comm ASEL, AMEL inst Airplane. All in a few months. It's all up to you! but remember, that's just because a self motivated student is needed to get things done as fast as they do.
with regards to the instructors, they did the same thing you're doing and learned a lot themselves. They're all ready to help, just make sure you ask the right questions. that's what I mean by it's up to you. They'll help you, but they're not going to learn the stuff for you. I remember it felt like a think tank at times with the students just hanging around with the instructors asking off the wall questions.
