I dont commute to ATL from IAH but I go there very often from IAH and it has been pretty easy for me. I do see a couple JS'S here and there but for the most part I always get on.
It's horrible, can't be done, but if you have to do it Hobby is your much better option
Seriously though, DAL has 8 IAH-ATL, 7 HOU-ATL, CAL has 10 IAH-ATL, and AirTran has 6 HOU-ATL and if worse comes to worse you can pretty much go anywhere east (MSY,MEM,BHM,etc..) and get a connection to ATL. First flight gets you to ATL by 9:05am, last flight home is to HOU at 11pm (last IAH is at 9:25pm)
It can be a pain in the neck sometimes because the flights are all full, there are more RJ's then mainline aircraft (even with CAL), and there are a bazillion flight attendents that were hired before most of us were born that commute out of Houston (former DAL FA base...former pilot base too but most of those guys retired).
But it could be worse...nowhere near as bad as DFW.
