Any recommendations for a hotel in Cabo?

I've stayed at the Finnesterra a number of times. Nice hotel, beautiful area and a super nice beach on the water. The only bummer is you can't swim at their beach because of mean rip currents, undertoe, etc. Flash em your license and they'll probably give you a crew rate around 100 dollars/night. Walking distance to the marina and other points of interest like Mermaids. Their # if dialing from the U.S.:011526241433333. Cell coverage is marginal if you use Cingular.

Melia San Lucas. You can walk anywhere worth going, swim at the beach, drink the tap water, etc.

Finnestera is a nice mid-level hotel which means a group of girls traveling down for the weekend can afford it, so the pool is usually a cool hangout. Be sure and tip the desk person when you check in and ask for a room in the new section. New folks to this hotel frequently get stuck in the old section which is a hole. No trip to Cabo worth mentioning fails to have the Giggling Marlin and El Squid Roe as a part of it, and Cabo Wabo if you like hard rock. Enjoy

I have done Marina Fiesta and Tesoro downtown. As others have mentioned, there are new sections, and sections that have gone through a renovation. If you stay at the Tesoro, request the renovated section.

Fiesta has a nice pool atmosphere. Both are on the marina and I would stay at either one again....

Guess it depends on what you want, if you're looking for the spring-breaky type than downtown is the way to go. Personally, I love exploring and more local type hotels when in the mex. My favorite in cabo is actually the farthest one up the coast, in san jose del cabo (the better cabo if you ask me), the Hotel Intercontinental. It's one of the all-inclusive deals, so eating is fine and it has five restaurants plus a few bars and the usual pool etc...it's pretty, open air construction and offers walking to the town which also has a boatload of good places to eat and drink. Private beach is really nice. Favorite bar is one on a rooftop called Shooters about 1/4 mile from the hotel and situated above a decent restaurant. For whatever reason they love showing hockey games on the tv's. Can't remember the rate, but about 180 rings a bell. I've stayed there twice for around 5 days each and I stayed at a condo down the road for a week with my wife after that. Great place, rent a jeep and drive up the coast , great bar called "Art & Beer" in the middle of nowhere on the water about a half-hour out of town.

Nice thing is, if you get the wanna-be-surrounded-by-college-students thing, the hotel offers a shuttle to the main downtown area for $10 round trip, ride is about 20 minutes and you can spend the whole night out there with a ride home assured.

Can't recommend that place enough though, one of the few locations I've gone back to with my own money.

Get Adrian, Edgar, or Victor (one of them will most likely be the handler you are using) to make a reservation at the Crowne Plaza in San Jose. All inclusive, private beach, its great. Get one of the cabbies to take you to downtown Cabo and go the the "Trailer Park" restaurant. It's in the middle of town, and unless you've been there before, you would never even know it exists. Best lobster on the planet. No matter what else I'm doing when I'm down there, I always make it a point to get to that restaurant.

I have stayed at some of the fore mentioned places and they are all good.

They only thing I cannot stress enough is to get out of the hotel to eat dinner. The food is marginal (fine for breakfast and lunch and cervases) at best at the all inclusives while Cabo has some of the best resturants around. San Jose has few excellent places as well.
