can anyone tell me anything about the Hormel flight department, based in Austin, MN.

Pro Pilot did an article on them in the last year. I used to fly out of RST and new some of their pilots. From what I've still heard their a great operation to be with.

Sorry I couldn't have more specifics for you.

If you get a job with Hormel, you'll have to change your screen name here. I recommend "Spampilot". :D

Good luck with your interview...

Over 10 years ago while out job-hunting I stopped by their flight department to drop off a resume' and by chance the CP was there. They were not looking for anyone at the moment, but he was more than gracious, and took the time to show me around, sit down and talk, and told me to keep updating my resume with him. He seemed like a down-to-earth, first-class guy running a first-class operation, and was well-supported by the company.

When I read that article I noticed he was still there, and my bet is that the culture inside that department is one you would be happy with, since who's running the show plays big into that equation.

As I recall their salaries ran a little higher than those up in Minneapolis since they are located out in the Austin "wilderness". I don't know if that's still true today, however.

Ran across the ProPilot issue I mentioned above. It's the Dec. 2001.

Roger Christensen is their CP and has been for many years. When I was flying out of RST in the mid-80s, he was their CP. According to the article he's been for 21 years.

Looks like they're flying an Astra and Galaxy....Oops...G100 and G200 (I think).

From what I remember, Roger is a "salt of the earth" type, very easy going and pleasant to chat with. They are still based in Austin MN.

Good Luck,
