I was just looking for some info on Horizon. I live in the Northwest and was thinking of applying. Does it help to have your resume taken in? Are they even taking apps??I have a family and am looking for a life, not the $. Thanks

Horizon is strange...very strange...there are people who had the resume walked in by very senior captains with incredible times and portfolios...nothing, nada...then there are pilots who simply sent a simple resume...and boom...a phone call few days later...

my friend with over 3000/700 have been applying for at least two years...nothing...

and yes, his resume was walked in by a captain who actually taught him ... so go figure...still, keep applying...and good luck to you...

However, I invite other Horizon pilots to give an insight...for those who aspire to work in the beautiful NW...

Bizarre but true

I had an application in at Horizon in 1995. In 2000, five years after, having NEVER updated it... my wife gets a call "This is Horizon Airlines Pilot recruiting.....". Well, after she stopped laughing, she replied "I'm sorry, Captain _______ is on a trip right now....". After a period of silence, the voice on the other end said "Oh, he has a flying job?". "Yes, since 1995. " "Well, then why did he apply at Horizon?" "He applied in 1995".

"Oh, sorry... must have pulled from the wrong file".

Geesh...

To answer your question, Horizon is taking apps. How much hiring is done remains to be seen. It should be rather limited. If you have someone to take your resume into the office that is always best. That being said I got one friend a job in a few weeks and have another with over 4000 hours who can't get a call. Who knows. Just curious why Horizon and not Alaska?? With your time and listed aircraft flown you should be in the hunt at Alaska when they resume hiring in the next year or so.

Don't bother. Go to any other airline and you'll be a lot happier. Unless you want to sit in the right seat for about 5 years, then welcome aboard.
