I would't be so surprised as to how many pilots would take a pay cut or freeze. Let's see, this pilot group voted for this s***y contract, don't forget. There's probably jet guys that figure that they are making over 100K sitting on reserve and if we grew that they could actually get lines. Those of us flying the "lesser" planes would yet again get shafted.

Alaska better set the bar high. They better not take a pay cut. It's time to tell management to take a flying leap. Gee, didn't the Board of Directors all just vote YES on raises? Doesn't the air group have a ton of cash? If Alaska pilots vote for a pay cut, you can bet Horizon will ask for something too. My answer will again be, NO!

I agree contract is sh.t but we are stuck with it and being stuck with it is better than not having it. The way the Company chooses to administer it is deplorable. That's a whole different conversation. That being said we are lucky it passed (I hated it too) or we would all be flying for even smaller peanuts.

Did you see the proposed Alaska pay cuts?? Those pilots are hoping they have a friendly arbitrator because as it stands now they don't have much say in the matter. Totally lame if the pay cuts come to be.

As it stands now, Alaska pilots won't vote on anything; its all up to the arbitrator. That being said, the conventional wisdom is that the arbitrator will release his decision, then both sides will come to a negotiated agreement which will be voted on. I'm not expecting a raise, that's for sure.

Southbound, it's not that I'm horribly in love with the Q400. It's still a turboprop, it's still slower than a jet, it still has a ceiling of FL250, and it still shakes & is louder than a jet. That said, if it makes money in markets where jets can't - that's fine, & I have doubts that pax are deserting QX in droves because of it. So I guess I'm saying it is the right airplane for some markets, and you're saying it's the wrong airplane for some markets. Fair 'nuff.

Oh, and in "suspecting this to be the case," I was referring to the company asking us for concessions, not this pilot group approving them. More semantics, I guess.

I'll go back & cower in the right seat for a while.

....and yes, I have also heard that we are getting some more Q400's. Hopefully we don't have to keep that POS 539. You guys don't like flying it and we don't like dispatching it. Especially when it breaks every other leg. It doesn't make sense to have an ALL CAT III fleet...and one borrowed CAT I POS.

As much as I hate flying whitey as the next guy/gal....why is it that that pos has windowshades in the cabin and the rest of our fleet (minus the jets) don't?

When the LAX base opens I wonder if I will be able to show in Seattle for my lax-sea dh ...hmmmmm

some higher-ups seem to have an infatuation with the Q400

Infatuation is an understatement. Without it I suspect their wretched, scheming little lives would be entirely wood-free.
