Ouch, thanks age 65 rule....5 year upgrades weren't bad enough.

Are they at least still giving out free pizza?

So at horizon all of the upgrades are due to retirement and not attrition?

There weren't that many retirements at Horizon in the next five years to begin with. The real concern is that if the majors stop hiring the already-low captain attrition may go to zero. There aren't that many captains jonesing to get out of there in the first place. I don't think the majors will stop hiring right away, though, a lot of them are understaffed right now.

DashTrash nailed it right on the head. We don't have that many retirements within the next five years. Movement should remain about the same. I think for the entire year of 2008, there were only 8 guys retiring.

Hey DashTrash. . .when are you going to change your forum name? (E-trash. . .doesn't quite sound the same)

Self Entitlement Syndrome

Okay this is again for you idiots, yes, I have gone down the road of name calling, that you are an idiot to think you are entitled to see someone forced to retire early than whats right, because a lot of pilots had to face that WRONG in the past. Oh have you thought of what you will do when you are 60? Now you will have the option to cont working, or retire! Wow what a concept! If the rule was not changed, guess what? No health care. No income at a time when you should be earning the most. Guess what? Some employers do not think flying airplanes amounts to much, so you better have some well connected Corportate pilots to get you a job your last five years of your career.

Enough said......those of you who do not like this rule, guess what, when you turn 60, stand by your current attitudes and quit at 60, so the seniority list moves faster for the guys below you.

At least you will still get a coffee cup from the company for X-mas for all of your hard work. Makes it worth it, doesn't it?

So why is it that many people rag on egle for having a long upgrade but I hardly ever hear or read about horizon's long upgrade? I has been like that for at least 3 years if not more.

Listen this post was more of a warning to folks thinking about coming to Horizon. Upgrades are around 6 years and if you live in Portland and want a good cpt. schedule in the 400 or 700 plan on having 18+ years of seniority.

For most of us 65 is a setback that we will have to deal with. I just hope we can find qalified applicants that want to spend the next 7-8 years in the right seat.

Hehe, well to the Q200 drivers I was never true Dash Trash to begin with :). I still have my DashTrash (Silly Pilot, Jets Are for Hot Tubs) sticker on my flight bag so I think that means I still qualify ;).

There's 15, not 8. Applicants to Horizon beware!
