Piedmont Hawthorne Aviation will sell its Pace Airlines division to Hooters restaurateur Robert Brooks. Vanguard Airlines earlier rejected Brooks' group's offer to purchased the bankrupt carrier. We promise to keep you abreast of developments as they arise...

This guy really wants an airline!

I used to think that maybe Vanguard was OK, because they were in KC (my hometown). Now I think that they are assstupid for turning down the money and the chance to get back flying again.

Good for Hooters, I hope he makes a pile of cash!!!

How do you know they are not going to fly again? Obviously you haven't been reading the latest news about Vanguard.

Last week, while in KC on an overnight, the news stated that they are going to start the liquidation process. I hope, for the sake of furloughed pilots everywhere, that there will be something to go back to, but my opinion is not to hold your breath. So, what is that the news that you were referring to...

PACE management (old Piedmont guys) felt that their charter op - now at 18 732s and 752s - was getting too big for them to manage effectively, but said they wanna stay involved. I wonder what their involvement will be?

I also wonder whether or not requirements and uniforms for flight attendants will now change? Could be a return to the old LUV attendant culture, yes? :D

The news said there are new offers on the table and there is even a
slight chance for a bidding war. I found this article in the
business journal:

19:15 Wednesday

Vanguard has two new offers, CEO says

Scott Dickson, president and CEO of Vanguard Airlines Inc., said
Wednesday that the bankrupt carrier has a new offer to buy the
airline.

Dickson said it is the second new offer being proposed and the third
overall, counting the rejected bid by Hooters Air LLC. Dickson would
not disclose details on either of the two new offers.

"We'll just work through the process over the next few days ... and
see where it takes us," he said.

On Sept. 25, Vanguard's board announced its rejection of an offer to
buy the airline from Robert Brooks, chairman of Hooters of America
Inc.

Daniel Flanigan of Polsinelli Shalton & Welte PC, Vanguard's
bankruptcy attorney, said the Hooters offer was rejected because it
was inadequate monetarily and otherwise.

This guy brooks is going to get taken to the cleaners at pace, it used to be a good ole boy operation and know they got bunch of people that dont know what they are doing, they lost all there good contracts madison square garden, charlotte hornets, washington wizards and capitals and the atlanta hawks and thrashers, tampa bay lightning.
