Hooters Air Goes Bust
The Fledgling Airline Will Be Grounded in April Except for Some Private Charters
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (March 29) - Hooters Air, which featured women in orange short-shorts and tight T-shirts on flights, will be grounded beginning next month except for private charters out of Winston-Salem, N.C.

What about da BOOBIES? Does we still gets ta looks at T&A?
Oh yeah and eats nasty A$$ chikin' wangs

As a former crewmember with PACE Airlines, I feel for the awesome crews that gave their all to make Pace and Hooters Air the best that it could be. This is a classic example of miss-management. When Hooters bought PACE, they put Mark Peterson in charge of the Hooters operations. Peterson is the guy that drove Vangaurd into the ground.

Peterson's bright management ideas led Hooters to establish a hub in Myrtle Beach - a town that can't support year round traffic. Duh!

Anyway, I hope Hooters sells Pace so that they can get back on their feet. Like I said, the crews made that place a great place to work, and I wish them all the best of luck.

It sucks anytime anyone is furloghed but I am surprised this Hooters venture with airplanes held on this long. With such a narrow market and the novelty of the flying "Hooters Girl" I just could not see the viability of this type of operation. Several other defunct carriers have tried the same market albiet minus the Hooters Girl and usually only hung on for a season or two

I flew for Pace and the biggest mistake they made was selling their certificate to Brooks. He said, "it was a little fun." Sad, ruining peoples lives and careers is a "little fun."

They still haven't posted anything on the company web site...classy. When my base was furloughed (overnight) we got our "pink slips" via pager. I've heard from a former co-worker there that they haven't even been told at all...sheese.

Good luck folks...

Best of luck to the Pace guys. We had a lot of Corpex guys go over to pace after getting the 1000k PIC in the J-ball.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't he do the same thing to Air South in the mid to late 90's as well?

That's a bit offsides. Peterson hardly "drove Vanguard into the ground." Rocky Spane put Vanguard on its earthward vector in 1999 and 2000. His successors tried to dig out of the hole he left, but it was too deep. Peterson was just holding the bag when the impact happened.

And as far at the MYR hub goes, that was Brooks's intent from Day One--to set up a "hometown airline" for Myrtle Beach and be the big local hero. Can't really pin that one on Mark either. Just another case of someone with more money than sense.
