Holy Crap

I hope this doesn't turn into a flightinfo religious thread.

Cool Video!

taped on aug 14 2003?

Pretty cool.

How do ya'll find the time to dig that stuff up?

Great description of high tension gear, too.

Even far lower voltages can produce some very impressive arcs. I once opened a 6,600 volt fused air cutout to replace the fuse element while working on the railroad, using hot gloves and a five foot stick. It was night, and the bright blue arc that jumped as I closed in the cutout was "memorable", to say the least.

Line capacitance is a big problem, and the reactor, a big coil, reintroduces the inductance that the circuit needs to keep voltage and current "in phase".

Good find!!!

The description didn't mean much to me, all I knew was that the video was sweeeeeet!
Somehow I knew that someone on this board would have some experience with high-voltage and that they would enjoy this on a much deeper level than the rest of us and Timebuilder, you didn't let me down.

Something similar happens to me every time I touch my friggin doorknob. :D

Sweet vid!

Tarnation!.....I keep warning my GF that this will be the result of her using her 10 gazillion watt hair dryer while i'm microwaving nacho cheese and the furnace kicks on. Now I have video evidence of some other blondes hairdrying results. Trust me...she will believe me.
