I'm inclined to think it's a negotiating ploy as well. Back about 10 years ago, Netjets was facing the same scenario. They were looking to expand their facility, so in addition to CMH, they were talking to Las Vegas and Salt Lake City as well. Obviously, CMH won. This could be similar to that.

Yes, we need a bigger facility in CMH because the current one can't accommodate all the necessary support staff. So what is NJA going to do? Move everyone? Nope. Open another support facility in another city and have two sets of support staff doing the same thing in two different places? Nope. The most logical answer is to expand the facility in CMH?

Another reason for Netjets expansion research could be that we are looking to build another hangar of our own (like in HPN) in an area of the country that most of our planes visit or fly over with great regularity, in order to do maintenance/servicing on our aircraft. Orlando, Raleigh, and Dallas all fit the bill. It wouldn't surprise me to see the same sort of thing somewhere in the SoCal area (VNY? PHX? LAS?).

Ihave no independent knowledge but justa few toughts.

1. To get CMH to ante up for more breaks you need to have serious discussions with another town. It is like moving an NFL franchise. It needs to go further than just a visit.

2. As they say, CMH is within 1 1/2 hours of the vast majority of NJA flights and owners; it is centrally located.

3. In today's world of terrorism, power outages, hurricanes, etc., it is very advisable to have 2 operations centers.

4. As pilots seem to like to live within 2 hours of their base. Within 2 hours of Orlando gets a lot of arrodable homes.

Fly safe. Just my thoughts.

Don't forget that NJA hires alot of people from OSU and these are People that have Never left the state of Ohio! it's really scary talking to some of our employees (not Pilots) the other departments. Could you imagine what would happen if this were true we would have mass desertion among the troops in Bridgway and Easton.

I have “heard” the following:

The company is having a hard time attracting “quality” people to work at Netjets and move to Columbus.

The company cannot build anything larger than I think a two story building across from Bridgeway because of the radar site. In fact, the reason that the east side of the building is curved is to reduce the building’s signature.

The company needs a lot more room to expand and build a “campus”, and from what I have “heard” they do not want to get into a situation where find themselves landlocked in the next couple of years.

From what I have heard, the tax abatements end next year, and when approached by the company to build additional facilities, the county and state told us more tax breaks for you.

From what I have “heard” the company wants to get rid of the Easton complex and move it to a centralized “campus”.

Also, the company (also included in this is our new Director of Training) wants to build a training facility, with classrooms, simulators, pool (for open water survival training, and emergency evac training), basically build something like the majors have. In addition the “campus” would include the financial buildings, T&E, Chief Pilots, etc.

Really if you think about it, we really do not have a centralized headquarters, which can be good and bad.

Regarding the hurricane situation in Florida, well, let’s not forget in the last 3 months, the Bridgeway facility was evacuated twice for tornados. I think anywhere we go there are local environmental factors.

Do you mean "no more tax breaks for you" (like the soup nazi?)
