Not aviation related, but looking for help.

Today I had a lady run a red light resulting in a colition with my car. She fled the scene but I chased her down and caught her. She then started to deny the whole incident. I have 3 witnesses and the cops gave her 3 tickets.

Problem is that she has no insurance and if I report it to mine my rates will go up. I need my car fixed so the police told me that I could take her court, but she did not look like she has enough money to pay for it.
Oh yeah, she has a mullet. I had a camera with me but felt that it would be inappropriate for me to ask her to pose for a photo, sorry.

Anyone go through anything similar?
Any words of wisdom that you could please share with me?

Thanks for any help you can give,
Jeff

Your rates should not go up as a result of a uninsured motorist claim. Your carrier will subrogate the claim against the other driver and recover their loss through litigation or settlement. File it.

I'll second that your rates should not go up. A mother driving a big Suburban didn't look behind her and backed into my car. It wouldn't have been that bad, but when she hit my car she thought I must have been a speed bump , so she pressed on the accelerator. I drive an Explorer, so how she didn't see me I don't know, but it did about a 1000 in damage. She denied everything and I had to get my insurance involved. The came out, looked at it and told me they felt it wasn't my fault. I wasn't happy that I ended up having to pay the deductible to get it fixed, but that was it. At the next renewal for my insurance, my rates actually went down.

What's a "mullet?"

I am sure that your are just kidding, but a mullet= Hair cut. Buisness in front/Party in back. Just like Joe Dirt.

Jstock,

It might take a while if it happens at all, but you will get your deductible back if your company recovers 100%. Keep your adjuster on the hook about that.

(Mullets...if you don't know what one is, you probably have one.)
