I'm trying to get a corporate position and it's been three months since I first dropped my resume off at the instruction of my friend who works there.

I've been through three face to face interviews(pilots and management), they've done the background check and pee test. That was all done before Christmas.

The question is, should I bug them or just sit and wait? My friend hasn't been able to figure out what is taking so long but it did take a similar amount of time for he and another guy to get hired. What the hell are they doing?

It isn't the flight dept. that is holding things up, it is downtown. What the hell are they doing? Oh, I already said that;) .TC

Three months ... I know the feeling. I waited ten weeks once to hear back from an interview, and that was torture. Alright, enough about flying ... who is that beautiful creature in your avatar?

I would proceed with caution but it might not be a bad idea to send a formal letter thanking them again for the interview & reiterating your desire to work for the firm.

What matters here is the time between your interviews and now. If I were you I would be in close touch with the CP and try to pick his brain a little. Bugging the people downtown will probably not get you much. The CP probably knows the scoop.

Sometimes the corporate world moves slow. I know that in this last hiring that it has been about a month between the interviews and still haven't put this to bed. The offer was countered so it will be another week before we know the outcome. From my view I say pay the guy what he wants...he is more than worth it, but if you have a major bean counter in the chain it can hold things up, for sure.

Good luck with your quest. If it is a good company you won't be disappointed.

It took 7 months and three interviews for me. It was a long wait well worth it. I guess no news is good news.

Thanks, guys. My friend has his ear to the ground and has had access to the owners this week so I hope he has rattled their cages a bit.

They aren't interviewing anyone else but I know the longer it takes to get in school, the greater the chance for Murphy to work his "magic".

Astra Guy--Is it common to get an offer that is negotiable? I'm used to the airline method--my way or the highway.;)

I know what they pay and the benefits are set so I certainly won't complain about the "offer".

750driver--That's Miss Gina Wild. She's an actress. Most of her films go straight to video, though:cool: . Might be worth renting one sometime...

Thanks again all!TC

AA717driver,

I can't say it is common to counter an offer. However, if the offer made to you is unrealistic in some form you don't have to take the party line. It just depends on how strong you believe you are compared to the job description. It is not like the airlines. This is really more one on one.

Good luck in your quest!

every money offer is negotiable.

but your plea is VERY weak unless you are prepared to walk out or you are comparing two offers (your best situation)

I have ALWAYS asked for more - it has worked 50% of the time. Its not personal...

money is money and most depts work on a budget - the less they fork you the more can go to thier bonuses.

If "NO" on a counter offer, ask for a 6 month review and do a good job -(quicker raise)

just some ideas I have used/seen...

good luck
