So I got the call today, I was selected to fly A-10s in the Guard. Those of you who I've PM'd with may remember that this was my first choice, and I want to thank everyone who offered up their advice. I've been on this board for nearly 4 years now and changed directions a couple times, but this is ultimately what I wanted the most.

Now the real challenge begins, getting through the training program! I'll be asking plenty more questions as time goes on, and I'm sure you gents will be as valuable as you've been in the past when it comes to handing down sound advice.

It'll be a long wait; it's a FY08 slot, so I figure I'll be off to UPT in 9 months to a year. That gives me plenty of time to get prepared.

There will be a brief celebration, but I realize that getting hired will seem rather easy compared to the challenges that I face at UPT.

Thanks again for everyone's insight and advice!

Congrats,

get all your shiat together ASAP. The Guard may have some unfilled 07 UPT slots and if you are all set you may be going sooner than what you think.

PM me for further details.

Congrats! You truly deserve it. This is just the beginning, so bring your A-Game to pilot training.

Go Steelers!

Thanks to everyone. The whole thing went better than I could have ever expected. I transferred into the unit a couple of months ago, They needed my AFSC so I jumped right in. I interviewed last week and got the news 6 days later. I am very happy about the outfit and feel like I really lucked out. To McGillicutty, let me say this, it's one you are familiar with yourself ;) . To USMCAirWinger, you’re advice has been very welcome, so thanks a million and I’ll fire off a PM. To Steeler Fan, thanks for your kind words and for all the insight you've provided thus far. I'm actually out in your neck of the woods right now and I'll drop you a line to see what's up. Thanks again to all!

Congratulations! Awesome! Just remember to check six frequently. You don't want to take a birdstrike... ;)

You'll enjoy the hawg - it's a man's airplane.
