hi
one of my captains busted his type rating/ATP ride.
I wondered if he still has a chance or if his chances are completely compromised with the majors.

I busted my private not once but TWICE!!

I was hired at both AA and Delta.

Most companies know that you can have a bad day in the sim. Just be honest and let the card play. you may get lucky.

I've busted a couple of rides and got on with a major. Just be upfront about it and take responsibility. Don't try to make excuses or blame the examiner, even if you feel you got screwed.

I know someone who confirmed crashed an airplane AND busted a few rides AND is now at a major

He should not have a problem. One or two checkride busts (out of 10-20?) ruining a career is an old wive's tale.

Although he hasdisqualified himself from employment at MESA!!!

I have failed a couple check rides. I am in ground school at a major right now. Just be honest when you interview. There is no such thing as a perfect pilot. Some people fail that don't deserve to, while others somehow pass them all. A lot of it is just the type of examiner you have and what kind of mood he is in that day. Bottom line, people do make mistakes from time to time. Just be honest.
