What was their MEC Chairman?

While I am certainly not condoning his actions, JP's medical situation with his child when the strike went down was reason enough in my book to allow a "pass".

When the health (and I believe in his case the life) of your family or child is in question, the union bravado and brotherhood only stretch so far.

Agreed, I would welcome any pilot to cross my line if they had a circumstance as his was at the time. As far as I'm concerned, he's NOT a scab.

Buddy,

A scab is a scab, he came to our airline last year tp prevent us from leaving ALPA for an in house shop. It's like Jane Fonda running my VFW chapter. The story is sad, but the actions result in a scab lable. Insult to injury, he leads a union chapter.

Passes don't exist! Find another job if your families health is at risk and you have no other options.

LOL...easy to say that if it wasn't your child.

Passes don't exist? That star on my ALPA pin gives me the right to decide, that for a select few, there were reasons to cross. I was on the other side and I understood. Where were you at the time?

Pal,

He attemtpted to prevent you from leaving ALPA? Then I guess he was helping the brotherhood?

While I certainly don't like the idea of a scab leading the union, is he any worse than the former NYA pilot, one of the original Lorenzo soldiers's in the same capacity?

Over the years, ALPA pilots and MEC's have certainly demonstrated back stabbing career ending actions towards their "brothers" at other carriers just as a scab has done. Just because we get that nifty magazine, wear that pin (mine has a star) and carry that card around, does not absolve many of us from the actions over the past 20 years we have inflicted upon our brother pilots. Frankly, this union has turned into an absolute joke.

Scab label? Like many on the property they still laugh all the way to the bank and really don't care about the label. If you want to talk about labels, ask yourself why so many scabs on the jumpseat list are former ALPA members.
God forbid we have another strike in this industry. ALPA has pissed off so many people that list will double in size in a heartbeat. And just like the numerous ex Braniff and disillushioned old CAL pilots who blew through our line, it will happen again.

P.S. Nothing about Jane Fonda is a sad story.
