I was talking to someone that is about to go to training on the Dash-8. He was saying something about more shp with uptrim or trimup. My capt and I did not know what he was talking about. Can someone explain...

Thanks
Props

Its called uptrim, power uptrim. If the ECUs (Engine Control Units) are functional properly when an engine fails it sends a signal to the good engines ECU to uptrim about 10% torque. The 100 series goes from 1800 shp to 2000 shp, the 200 goes from 1950 shp to 2150 shp and the 300 goes from 2140 shp to 2380 shp.

For example the max torque and ITT on the 100 is 104% and 800 Deg C. Takeoff power is 90% (most times) at around 700-720 deg C. If the engine fails it will uptrim to close to 100% and around 750 deg C. Leaving plenty of room for more power if we need it.

Hope this helps.
