I'm trying to help a friend without internet access do some research for a ticket from ATL to DCA/IAD (or BWI in a pinch) and back during Thanksgiving (Wed. 11/27 in the pm - Sun. 12/1 in the pm). Since I haven't had to look for something like this in a while, I don't exactly have my finger on the pulse of current methods. Can y'all recommend some good websites for researching schedules and fares, besides specific airline sites (I can handle that one).

Thanks in advance...

Orbitz.com, Expedia.com, Travelocity.com those are just a few.

I have found that you get the same price if not better right from the airlines website.

Not to blow my own horn, but try Airtran (either ATL-IAD or ATL-BWI) at airtran.com (or 800-Airtran). BTW, if you do Orbitz (website owned by top major airlines) my understanding is that the price matching they do is phony as, somehow, any given major always ends up being cheaper than any one of the low-fare ones. In fact, if I’m not mistaken, Southwest successfully sued ORBITZ as prices frequently quoted & compared to those of Southwest’s were always less expensive than Southwest’s.

Of course, you’ve, probably, heard of Priceline.com (name your own price) and there is also Bestfares.com (don’t know much about this one)

Good luck.

Thanks y'all. I went to the "wholesale" sites, and then to the individual airline sites.

FYI, USA had the best price (202) and best time assortment, but with a connection in CLT.

AT was 109 going, 179 coming, but had a decent selection of times.

Delta was all over the place with prices (some lower and some higher than AT) and the 3 airports to choose from up there, but the popular time slots and airports were mostly taken, or were much more expensive. Of course, a buddy pass won't be worth the paper it's printed on that weekend.
