I have an old pentium I computer (ought in 1998) that I have Microsoft FS 98 on. How do and can I download diff. aircraft off the web to fly on MS FS 98? What are good sites for downloading this stuff?

Thanks

avsim.com

and

flightsim.com

can't pick a favorite, both sites have good stuff...

If you can afford it, upgrade to 2004. My computer is about 2 and 1/2 years old, and the sim runs better than 2002. I have most of the settings maxed, except 2d clouds. The aircraft and scenery graphics are amazing.

Theres lots of good aircraft for FS98 just because its been out so long. This is still the prefered simulator of a lot of diehard FS fans because there was more focus on flight dynamics than scenery. I personally have Fs2004 and recommend it, however you'll need a pc upgrade everytime you want a new version of FS. DO NOT GET FS2000/2002! These we're possibly the worst versions ever made and 2004 runs better/has major improvements than both of them. 2004 runs fine on my pc, but its also a custom built one with a P4 2.4 gig, 80 gig hd, 512 ram, 128MB NVidia GEforce 4 video card (theres better ones out there now but a year ago this was decent and still is for almost everything). I'd also recommend getting a force feedback joystick, this ads a lot to the flying.

You have to be a member at flightsim.com, but registration is free though logging on to get into the file libraries can be a problem since they have a limited amount of bandwidth.

Avsim is decent, a bit slower download rate than flightsim, but no messing around with login. selection is decent but not the greatist.

There might also some good cheap payware you could find on ebay. stuff that originaly sold for 30 bucks you can prob get for 5.

FS2002 is a great sim, runs a heck of a lot better the FS2004 unless you have state of the art new pc. If you go to http://www.flightsimnetwork.com/cgi/dcforum/dcboard.cgi
you'll find most of the users agree FS2002 is a great sim and you can by it for 10 bucks

and it does run well on a low end pc.

If your pc is 5 years old than don't try FS2002, it won't run.

There is a lot of very nice free stuff still available for FS98, it is one of the best flight sims ever made. What kind of aircraft are you looking for?

Here are some links that have FS98 planes.

http://www.flightsim.com/cgi/kds?$=main/forum.htm is a good place to start for downloading aircraft.

Simviation.com has some good stuff too.
