Looks like I'll be spending a few days there. Has anyone been there in the past few months? Anywhere safe to hang out? Please PM me for any specific threats that may be out there (or good watering holes).

Thanks in advance!

Stayed downtown on 2 different layovers there in early November at the Sofitel. I never left the hotel, but was sleeping during the days. Walking around in the day in the actual city is OK, Air France crew info, but I wouldn't go out when the sun starts going down. Check out the State Dept. website for specifics, although they say the same for just about all of Africa.

We did have an armed check point stop are van going across the bridge to the city, but they saw three pilots and waived us on. I guess that is a good thing?!?

Cheers,

PtP

Thanks PTP. I've been looking at the state department site, and some others. We usually stay at hotels where other flight crews are, so maybe they'll have some tips.
