I heard a helicopter guy ask for a practice approach to a missed and then holding. Got me thinking, do y'all fly a holding pattern if need be? 1 minute legs? Easier on everything and everybody then hovering?

Yep. Once you get into the airspace system, you fly it just like a fixed wing. For one thing, its INCREDIBLY difficult to hover in IMC.

Yeah, you have to fit in with the rest of the traffic. The only difference is that when everyone else is slowing down, you're balls out to maintain traffic pattern speed. LOL!

I'm curious; What helicopter are you flying that would require you to go "balls out" to maintain traffic pattern speed?

If you have a Garmin 430 with a recent software version and an autopilot you can watch the machine do it all.... Well, I do keep a hand on the collective.
