How Soon Is ‘Soon’ for Hawker 4000 Deliveries?
There are now 23 Hawker 4000s in the completion pipeline as Hawker Beechcraft continues function and reliability testing, the last phase before the FAA will allow deliveries to proceed. While Hawker Beechcraft predecessor Raytheon Aircraft did obtain FAA type certification for the super-midsize business jet in November 2006, it came with a catch–the company’s certification tests took so long that the design would have to meet additional, new fuel tank and hydraulic requirements by this coming May. The first Hawker 4000 was ceremonially delivered in December 2006, but it was a lease-back demonstrator and the owner never took possession of the airplane. In fact, this airplane still remains registered to the manufacturer, as do the other 22 flying customer Hawker 4000s and five flight-test aircraft. A spokesman said Hawker Beechcraft will start delivering Hawker 4000s “soon,” something the Wichita-based company has been saying for about a month now. But the end of the tunnel might actually be near for Hawker Beechcraft–a Hawker 4000 customer told AIN that the first delivery could happen as early as this week. The company spokesman, however, was not able to confirm this timeline.
I'm holding my breath!;)

Maybe.

Probably.

Who knows.

Saw a Hawker 4000 a month ago @ Scottsdale Air Center in NJ paint and QS tail. Maybe still on demo side. But, very nice looking bird.

Maybe HawkerBeechcraft thinks jets are like wine and wants to make sure the 4000 is properly aged before delivering it.

Although, in fairness, the 4000 does show on the standing bid form and has for some time.

That's true.

He did say '08.

He didn't say 2008.

has netjets hired anyone to fly the 4000 yet? im talking new hire fo's

atr42flyer,

It takes a while after the introduction of a new fleet before NetJets posts SIC vacancies. Therefore, I would not expect any new-hires to be hired into the 4000 for quite some time.

Not to mention that current non-seat locked FOs on property will have first chance at bidding this aircraft before new hires.

Pretty sure the latest "Flying" mag had a pirep on the 4000...

Looks like a very nice flightdeck (recent picture):

Did I read that some Falcon drivers were actually bidding the Hawker 4000 at Netjets? Any "reliable" estimates on when the first 4000 will be on the line and ready to fly revenue flights? I know some Part 91 4000s have been delivered.

The bids been pulled... plane is delayed yet again... who know if we will ever get them. New rumor around that the plane is not meeting promised performance numbers and NJ is trying to just dump the contract....FWIW

Wow - that's too bad if it is true. Nice flightdeck picture. I guess getting out of the contract wouldn't be too bad in this bad economic climate. It certainly wouldn't be good for pilot hiring! Say it ain't so Sam....

The Hawker 4000 sure looked nice at NBAA; I believe it was a Talon Air bird.

The Hawker Beech demo guys were talking the airplane's performance up quite a bit, and I thought the cabin was VERY nice.

talking up how? Was it meeting or exceeding specs?

Well they didn't say that...I guess more saying what it would do instead of what it wouldn't.

I didn't know much about the 4000 nee Horizon; I certainly didn't know an airplane that size could go into sub-4000' runways as many of the demo pilots told me they had done (obviously not near MTOW).

The cabin struck me as being very spacious and passenger friendly; larger than the 900XP and Sovereign, but obviously smaller than the F2000. I didn't look at the G200 so I dunno how it compares with the 4000.

I can only imagine with NJA being a G200 operator that they'll get the G250, and if that airplane does what Gulfstream says (how often does G not meet specs?) then NJA probably wouldn't have a need for the 4000.

NJA needs something to compete better with Flexjet's CL300. The Soveriegn and G200 don't really hit the mark IMO. The G200 may have a nice cabin but I have heard the performance numbers aren't as good (TO and landing distances, etc.). From what I hear the Hawker 4000 would be a pretty good match. Anyone heard different?

Seems like if nj pulled the plug on the 4000, that's a lot of planes and a lot of $$$ that could be thrown toward bombardier. I know rts has ill will toward bombardier, but I'm sure he could still get a sweet discount with the volume he would be getting..

Pretty similar performance numbers, but the 300 is 13 inches wider at mid cabin. That's a huge difference, at least for the pax especially on a 6 hour mission.

It has nothing to do with performance. My NJA source says that the first couple were found to have the wrong interiors or setup, and have to redo all of them. April to June timeline.

Rep in LIT told me the same. 3 or 4 in the hangar being done now.

None announced that I've heard of, but will probably be mixed in with another airframes' CP and APCs until the fleet is big enough to spawn its own.

With upgrades at NJA running close to 5 years I can certainly see a bunch of right seaters leaving the comfort of the U-Boat and moving over to something a bit more "roomy".

I predict a bunch of new type ratings to a number of our F/O's in the upcoming years.
