Considering a move to the islands so at least I can be a bum on the beach...not mention save on heating bills...

Any thoughts/ experience on flying around the islands?

After watching the pilot get out of the plane (twin otter on floats) in his shorts and open collar pilot shirt I was pretty envious! Of course I was good and liquered up on Rum drinks! My wife and I were in St Thomas and it is absolutely beautiful! Like a tropical haven with european flair and the protection of Uncle Sam! Go for it! Think of me on my overnight Saturday in Midland-Odessa! God bless and fly safe- Wil

There are CFI jobs around Hawaii.... There are even air tour jobs flying fixed wing in Hawaii...

Life is good in the Aloha State!

It looks like I am on my way! It feels so great to get some encouragement! Thanks guys..

I guess the next question is to try to fire off resumes from here or follow my gut instinct which says move to oahu, hang em out there, and see what happens. Any thoughts from older and wiser aviatiors?

cost of living

cost of living to enjoy the lifestyle that even us starving aviators enjoy on the mainland can be high in the islands, which i find strange, as i recall hearing something about hawaii being one of the poorest states. there are numerous fixed wing ops running tours and what not, but you may not meet the hour reqs yet. as for instructing, sporty's has or had a school there. good luck and enjoy the sunshine. oh, and buy an english-jap dictionary!
