But, in all fairness....

I really want to show Phil Bakes my brown-eye . . . . I think he's actually a district judge somewhere . . . . All the more reason not to vote Republican...
Though I recall that Bakes worked in concert with now-Justice Stephen Breyer, who was a Ted Kennedy lieutenant, to effectuate deregulation. Moreover, while deregulation was put into motion during a Republican administration, it happened during Democrat, Jimmy Carter's, administration. So, there's plenty of blame to spread around.

Agreed in that regard. Bakes also has his hands dirty as president of both CAL and EAL. I know that Teddy regretted having his name attached to deregulation, but that doesn't replace all the lives hurt by the way it was implemented. Nevertheless, Bush Sr.'s support of Lorenzo regarding the Eastern strike was pretty sh!tty in my opinon. Otther lines of Republican support for management are fairly well documented. Yet in the end I don't know if we would be much better off with Democrat in charge, but I know GW's party doesn't give a sh*t about the working American.

Off topic, but which one really does? The Dems pay lip service, but look at workers' rights during the 90s. How much did Bubba help out the worker then?

Pilot new hires at SWA receive copy in class

Pilot new hires at SWA receive a copy in New hire training. A shame that it's not required reading for everyone, especially the "Kids" that think they're owed everything!

With Clinton I guess it depended on how good of a donor the respective airline/union was. As you recall AMR strikes were stopped because it was claimed AMR was 'vital to the national transportation infrastructure.' That's all up for arguements sake. However it is intresting Northwest pilots were allowed to walk in the middle of summer and despite having two fortress hubs, NWA was not branded 'vital to the national transportation infrastructure.'

Mr. Bush on the other hand just appoints Mediation Board Members who can be guarented to side with managment when the chips fall down. In the end you are right that the Dems do play lip service. However the Republicans have done nothing but spat in our face.

Oh man, I am HOWLING at the irony given your avatar...

Another good read is "Splash of Colors," by John Nance. His book is devoted to the demise of Braniff. I read it in 1992/1993.

Another book is "Delta: Debunking the Myth." I read it after reading "Splash of Colors.|" I don't remember the author, but do remember he was a vice president and chief legal counsel for the airline. He left Delta to join ILFC, an aircracft leasing company.

Trust me, I would morph into a Sean Hannity clone if it meant a shot at getting into Barbara's pants. :D

In other words, nimtz will be who he needs to be to complete his political objectives, which in this case is crossing lines to get to some Bush.

Too many of us create our identities by creating blank and white allegiances.

When Hilary Clinton sponsers the Air Line Pilot Career Revitalization Act are you going to not support it?

Republican Air Line Pilots...... hmmmmm

edit: I'm on my side as usual, which for the last three years means I'm also on the side of the ALPA-PAC

Anyone have a copy for sale off this board. I would rather help out one of you if your selling the book then another place.

My uncle was in the 570. He was fired and spent ~3 years on the streets. ALPA got his job back with a side letter agreement - with original date of hire.

And Clinton may have been marginally pro-labor, but he also authored the 1996 Air Safety Act - so now all your disciplinary actions, training records and employee records go with you to your next interview. Think about that next time you hear of a pro-union guy getting a letter in his file for not wearing his hat....
