Has anybody here completed the ATC entrance test that tests on problem solving skills....How hard is it? Did you pass? Whats the pass/fail rate?

Thanks

I have not taken the test myself but I know that there are study guides available to buy. I think there are several different compaines that make these study guides and I know that one of them is ARCO.

If you are a pilot you probably know a lot of the differnet items on the test already (flight rules and phraseology and so forth).

A friend of mine is an air traffic controller so I will forward your questions to him. As soon as I hear from him I'll post it here. (Unless someone else on this board beats me to it that is ;)

Newmei,

Are you talking about the OPM or the AT-SAT? I've taken and passed the OPM and found it to be effectively a joke. If you have more than a few brain cells functioning, you'll likely pass. I have not personally taken the AT-SAT, but a friend of mine took that test and said it seemed harder than it actually was. He passed with an excellent score (mid nineties). I will note that the OPM is pass/fail only, you don't get to know your score.

There are study guides available for the OPM. I used one from ASA, a dark green book called "Air Traffic Control Test Prep". It may not be at your local pilot shop but you can order it at ASA's site or at Amazon.

I don't have pass/fail stats for these tests, sorry. I will tell you that when my group of students took the OPM last year, only one failed out of 55...same this year.

Any questions, feel free to PM or email.

Stephanie

Actually I meant to ask about the entrance exam at minneapolis community and technical college, its a mostly problem solving skills test...
Thanks

the OPM test was fairly easy. Takes about 3.5 hours and there really isnt anything hard. I don't remember everything about the test but its just one of those things you dont study for, you know it or you dont.
