Hi...

Well, it's been a long time coming. I've owned this bike for over 20 years and I've finally come to the realization that I don't have the time to enjoy her like I once did. So...I thought I'd see if any of you out here would be interested in, or knew someone who was in the market for a great sportbike. You have to see it to believe it. Here's a link for some information and a picture. I really hate to see her go...

Regards

What do you mean never seen rain, the fun of having a bike is hitting the highway, I cherish the days on my '86 700 Magna riding from the east coast to the west coast and back a few times.

Hi...

Just as I said...this bike has never seen a foul weather day. Not to say I've never done it. Actually many times, but not with this one. Besides, rain hurts at 90mph. :)

Regards

90, OK 90 maybe in the rain, but at least 140 when the road was dry, I remember racing a porsche through the mountains in Utah, I finally had to let the guy pass me.

wow

Man..try Ebay. You'll get some sort of $$$$ for a great bike in that condition. No sense giving the thing away. Screw that. Where you located? I'll give ya 50$ and pick it up tomorrow.

Looked u up:

Think I'm kiddn' I'll be in PHX tomorrow. With my truck.

Hi...

$50? That's an insult....and you know it. :) All in good fun, I presume. How 'bout you give me your truck and 50 bucks and we'll call it even?

Hi...

By the way, I went to list it on ebay. I'm relatively ignorant as far as that forum is concerned, so I was a bit shocked to learn that the fees they charge for the initial set up were so high. 30 bucks to list the bike, another 30 bucks after the first bid, and yet more fees if I want to set a reserve or add more than one picture. Most of which were non-refundable. Quite a few other fees as well which I didn't even bother to peruse. I guess the ad would reach quite a few more perspective buyers, but geez...nickel and dime the sellers to death. Oh well...perhaps still an option. Thanks for the suggestion.

Regards

Apparently, there are great numbers of people who try to circumvent the ebay process once a contact with a buyer is made.

The fees ensure that ebay gets paid, even if a private contact between buyer and seller causes the auction to be cancelled prematurely.

You can blame the people who have been trying to screw ebay for those high fees.

I've got to sell my motorcycle next week too.

Now is actually a great time to sell due to the high gas prices and time of year. Everyone buys in the spring and sells in the fall. I'm in the midwest with a Honda Sabre 700 that has some dings and 24,000 miles, but runs perfect. I'm paying for the annual tune-up and am asking for roughly $1200. I'm throwing in two old helmets and it has a windscreen.

That should give you an idea what to ask for. Use Ebay for similar bikes and see what the going rate is. Also check out www.kbb.com.

Best of luck

Hi...

I guess I should've known about those fees. A few bad apples ruin it for the rest. C'est La Vie.

Hi...

labbats,

I was actually pleasantly surprised what others have been asking for their similar bikes on ebay and in the Trader. None, however, were in the condition mine is in and the prices were considerably higher than what I expected to see. We'll see what happens. Good luck to you as well.

Hi...

Sure, I can throw one in...but you have to supply your own air pump. :)

Sell it in Cycle Trader. The people that buy the magazine are local, so you will have more people that will actually come and see the bike. I've sold several through CT. I tried one through eBay, but when the guy showed up(from several states away) to pick it up, he told me he found another bike just like it a couple hours down the road, but with lower miles, for $1000 less...and demanded that I sell it to him for that same price. Of course, I told him to get bent and if he doesn't buy it I keep his deposit...he ended up paying me for it(the exact price that he bid for it on eBay). Then, about a week later, I got a letter from his attorney saying if I didn't refund $1000 of the purchase price due to "undisclosed damage"(funny, the bike had no damage, and they couldn't even specify WHAT was supposedly damaged), they would be sueing me. I ignored it, and never heard another word...but there are some wackos out there.

Hi...

One of the things that bothers me about the ebay experience is that it seems you can be ripped off relatively easily. I would definately rather a prospective buyer was able to see the bike in person and then they would know exactly what they're getting.

The scenario you described, FracCapt, is not one I'd like to become familiar with. I checked into the Trader and it seems to be straight forward and relatively affordable to advertise there. Thanks for the tips.

Hi...

I was wondering which package to choose for listing my bike with Cycle Trader. They offer the basic print ad which includes a black and white photo and runs for two weeks. A basic internet ad runs for four weeks and includes a color photo. A combination of the two includes the basic print ad and an internet ad. This one also runs for four weeks. Has anyone used this medium? If so which package was most successful? Thanks for any help.
