GYY looks like airlines go there to die

Anyone ever notice that every airline that has gone into GYY goes out of business (Southeast,Skybus) what is wrong with this airport? Thoughts

You think? They have the South Shore train that goes by the airport. Free parking, in ways its like RFD.

Having worked for a airline that flew out of both. GYY is on the wrong side of Chicago. Sure you have free parking but would your car is safe there? Also GYY has GYY finally got the traintracks moved? That is the other problem as it limits your lift out of GYY. RFD loads was great almost always full.

And whatever happened to Mid America Airport (BLV)? That was going to be the Big Thing back in the '90's.

BLV is still there, and still unused on the civilian side. Original idea was to handle the overflow at STL, that of course never materialized.

Their latest boondoggle is an attempt to seduce some Chinese cargo outfit into building an intermodal distribution hub there. I think STL is in competition for this as well. Some of the consulting groups like Boyd, think it's a folly.
