I am trying to understand how guys get hired into Gulfstream (GIV, GV, etc...) positions.

All the job listings specify a type rating is required.

From what I understand, a Gulfstream type is $$$$$$$$.

Am I to conclude that this is not an entry level position, & that guys move up from a smaller aircraft & the company buys the type ?

Ex-military, i.e. 89th Airlift Wing flying VC-20's or VC-37's
-OR-
Gulfstream factory demo pilots

Alot of these have gone to NJI.

The only Gulfstream Demo pilot to go to NJI left to become their Standards Officer. A Gulfstream engineer who was also a Patuxent River qualified Naval test pilot went to NJI after he retired from Gulfstream.

Compensation at Gulfstream, which includes a defined benefit pension plan in addition to a 401K and an incentive awards program, is better than at NJI.

320AV8R,

thats a good question. Im typed in the G1159 but I dont know anyone at Netjets. Anyone have any insight into the selection process? Do they hire from the outside or do they upgrade pilots from other fleets?

Know someone at NJI. Get hired at NJA when you're 13 (and hope the NLRB rules in favor of SC). ;)

For Pt. 91, know someone. Unfortunately, for the corporate world, airline time counts toward the bottom line but it won't get you an interview, let alone hired.TC

Don't you mean know the "right" someone at NJI?

Right you are. Knowing someone like YOU doesn't do jack squat for you... :D ;) TC
