Anyone heard anything about G-4 crash in KTEB? Just wondering, I heard some chatter about it tonight in the Chicago area and was wondering if anyone has heard anything.

Yeah I flew over just as it was happening. The captain saw it all from the left side on the approach into EWR. G V (from what I was told from source in TEB). From what the captain told me, looked like at last half of the runway the aircraft started skidding sideways, accompanied by smoke. At the very end of the runway, he described the aircraft skidded all the way around, about 180 degrees, into the grass, and he said he saw lots of smoke and could see some flames.

We were actually headed to TEB and changed our destination to EWR 5 min. earlier.

ATIS that I had at the time of the accident was wind 290 @ 26 gust to 39. Aircraft were shooting the ILS to 19 and circling to runway 24.

I hope it was just some blown tires and everyone evacuated safley.

I was there

We had just recieved the go from gate control to start our engines, the right one was up and spinning and as we hit the starter for the left engine we heard a big thud. At first we thought it was something that ran into our plane, so we were busy trying to figure out what happened. Next thing you know, everyone on the ramp is running towards 22 and people are pouring out of their planes and taking off in that direction, that's when we noticed the smoke and the tail of an airplane sticking out of the trees. Took a while to register, it's just a surreal kind of thing that you know is possible but you don't really ever expect. The airport shut down until 1945 lcl while the rescue crews cleaned up and did their thing. I overheard some people talking in the FBO and they were saying there were no fatalaties, but I don't know where they got their information from. There definately wasn't any kind of information stream coming from any authorities on the scene, so I don't really know any more about it than any of you. I can tell you that we landed in a King Air 200 about a half hour prior and it was very rough with heavy wind gusts and some moderate 15-20kt wind shear, but nobody seemed to be having a problem getting in. I hope everyone is alright, I look forward to hearing more about it.

Be safe,

I heard some third hand info that a GIV went down in Afganastan today. I looked all over the internet, and the news channels and couldn't find anything. The scary thing is I was told that it was for a company a good friend of mine flies for. I have tried to call him on his cell and it only gives a weird and fast busy tone. He told me he was gonna be in Costa Rica around this time, but with the report I got, from someone saying they saw it on Fox News and there Charter Co name listed, I am concerned.

Your buddy's not based in N.C. by any chance? DOD?

Afghanistan

I am presently flying in Afghanistan. I have not heard of a G4 crashing here. There was a CN212 that crashed on Monday operated by BlackWater. Six on board, no survivors.

High Winds Knock Out Power in Northeastern States

TRENTON, N.J. (Dec. 1) - Winds gusting as high as 50 miles per hour damaged a school, felled trees and knocked out power to thousands of homes across the state Wednesday and may have been a factor in an aircraft accident at Teterboro Airport, authorities said.

A Gulfstream IV twin engine jet carrying two crew and seven passengers slid off the end of the runway as it was landing at Teterboro in blustery conditions shortly after 4:30 p.m. No injuries were reported.

The plane hit some trees at the end of Runway 24, but did not catch fire, said Jim Peters, a spokesman for the Federal Aviation Administration.

The extent of damage, the origin of the flight, and the operator were not immediately known, authorities said.

The airport in Bergen County was temporarily closed and traffic was diverted to Newark Liberty International Airport, said Tiffany Townsend, a spokeswoman for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which operates the airports.

Earlier, in Edison, the winds ripped a portion of a gymnasium roof off the Thomas Jefferson Middle School, according to Police Lt. Matthew Freeman. No injuries were reported and building maintenance personnel were working to repair the damage, he said.

Jersey Central Power and Light reported 3,000 customers without power in Hunterdon County and 2,000 in Morris County, in addition to scattered outages in parts of northern New Jersey.

Public Service Electric & Gas, the state's largest electric utility with 1.9 million customers, reported 10,000 customers without power throughout its coverage area, which ranges from Camden to central and northern New Jersey.

The winds accompanied a strong cold front that moved across the state on the heels of heavy overnight rains. The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory through 10 p.m. Wednesday for counties in the northern part of the state.

Winds were expected to diminish later in the evening as the storm system moved into southeastern Canada.

I wondered why things were so quiet when I passed by there on my way home from work. The winds really were brutal yesterday and I hope no one was injured. I live about two miles from the airport and wished I had turned on my transceiver once I got home.

I do believe everyone made it out of the aircraft. The only other thing (rumor?) I've heard is that the acft ended up on its back. Has anyone else heard any more info about what had happened?

Somebody mentioned the acft sliding sideways down the runway after touchdown. Could be a steering issue? If any of you have flown G4's for any amount of time I'm sure you've had your own steering problems. Steering problems seem to be the only thing Gulfstream hasn't been able to work out on that acft...Other than the APU that doesn't last very long which isn't Gulfstreams fault.

They showed a picture on the news. No one was killed, but the plane won't fly again. It was right-side up, but the left wing appeared to be ripped off, and there were flaps and various other parts on the ground behind the fuselage. It had a British registration number.
